Arrow Spirit in the Sky , What's yer long haul flight tipple

What do you sup on those endless flights ?

Over the years I learned to avoid any gassed drinks even my terrestrial Asbsinthe and soda or Gin and Tonics etc, as the body expands anyway at altitude and less gas better.

A side form needing to pee several times Bangkok to Europe 9-12 hrs+ depending if CDG CPH etc

I now go for the Bloody Mary as 4 of my five a day/flight.
Will sometimes have a single small red wine if vealsteak or beef on the menu usually just water.

Even the tomato juice Worcester and Tabasco dehydrate as do peanuts , all nuts and most food even tea coffee Coke and all juices so water last few hours only.

On London City to Prague the stewards usually bung me, and all boozers 2 miniatures hourly and a can of Tom , I think the word got out that I gave a stewardess a leftover 500 Czech crown ($15) "tip" once , never had better service since Brutish Caledonian Swissair folded.

Cheers from Trout Hall and Danzka tho I think BA its budget juice and Smirnoff

I do like olives and fresh mint but not in Bloody Mary which for me must have Lime Tabasco Worcester Sauce, I crack black pepper at home and stir with a celery optional.

At least a bottle of red in the lounge before the flight and a couple of glasses on board knocks me out for most of the flight.

I try to avoid long haul if possible. As most of my travel is cattle class, a break in the ME is essential, if only to avoid the smell of fellow travelers and blocked toilets.
Water and plenty of it is a must.

Orange juice, tomato juice (little lemon and black pepper) and will try to avoid airplane food, except for the peanuts/trail mix/pretzels and vanilla ice cream topped with warm chocolate fudge

Whatshername will have a drink from time to time while on board. Most of the time at the beginning of the flight. I’ll give her my orange juice and she’ll mix it with her champagne and wa-lah,…a Mimosa.

Still water, sparkling water, occasionally tomatoe juice, a coffee or two an hour out from arrival to help shake the Xanax off. No alcohol, learned my lesson the hard way on that one long ago.

No alcohol, but lots of water, tea or a diet coke.

    No alcohol or fizzy drinks.

But I get absolutely shit faced the night before which always guarantees a good 8 hours sleep the next night.

I don't like getting pissed on long haul. Makes me think of a time, years ago, when I descended from a MAS flight into the tropical heat of KL, down the stairs (no airbridge back then)- absolutely hammered- and almost passed out. Just a few glasses of wine.

Bit of a fib there, I've never actually had a gin Bloody Mary on a flight but I do prefer them with gin.

Most people tend to agree when they take a curious sip.

I hated vodka most of my life but I have came round a bit and I'll drink it with soda and a lime when I'm trying to stay off the beer.
    Lang may yer lum reek...

Bloody Mary x 2 followed by three glasses of wine with meal, then large brandy followed by 2 litres of water, apple juice and orange juice as I pace the gangways - can't sleep on aircraft.

If you drink 2 litres of water I'm not surprised you can't sleep.

Back in the day . It was de rigour to get absolutely carted on the flight . Prior to 9/11 it was easy to achieve and a little bit encouraged if you didn't make a coont of yerself. Later on I had to bring one of those insulated bags with me . It held 12 cold cans of award winners. Sometimes I would also purchase a bottle of duty free rum or something. This was with Royal Brunei Airlines perth to Manila via Brunei. So I had to at least try to be sneaky about over serving myself

nothing has changed. dumb meatheads and their fat women still get trashed on planes making life difficult for both the crew and the more civilised passengers.
