The ones I get don’t have big holes, but unlike crumpets the jam won’t fall through the holes and land on your lap .

The bottom of crumpets are solid, so nothing can 'drip'.

Totally off topic, except I was eating muffins when I noticed, but that's the rear end of a Mk3 Shackleton (tricycle undercarriage). Any chance of a front view Looper? I did some of my training on those back in the 1970's. The ones I worked on had two Viper take-off boost engines on the outboard engines, Does your model have them fitted? You can tell by the rear of the engine on the outboards having a jet exhaust port whereas the inboards will not.

I flipped her on her back for some gaping bomb-bay pornography.

But I cannot see any sign of the viper boost exhausts of which you speak.

If you have got any old photos I might jerry-rig something to bring her up to spec.

Oh, and while I am here, today's crumpet is topped off with a dash of locally grown Gold Coast kumquat preserve

^ No, the model doesn't have the Viper engine fitted.

    A question of crumpet-shackleton-viper-jpg

You can see the engine extends further than your model and has the exhaust.

Still, it was interesting to see a tricycle undercarriage Shackleton again.
