Having said that, I bought 4 chicken Maryland's this morning that would normally all go in the oven too but I will try one in the Airfryer for a comparison.

I'm seriously considering this model...the biggest selling point is that it can handle a 5 qt dutch oven. A Breville version of countertop multifunction oven.

Is it like the one i posted Topper. The table top ones, i made sure i went with one which is double glazed, most have a single glass front pane. Mine is an electrolux and was 5K THB some years back but is large and will handle a large chicken on the spit and has room for a full tray of veggies underneath.

    FWIW..

Tried cooking chicken pieces by both conventional oven and airfryer to compare results.

Chicken pieces ready for their pre-cook seasoning.

    Air fryers-20220613_120134-jpg
Straight out of the oven after 45mins @ 180c

    Air fryers-20220613_120214-jpg
About to come out of the airfryer after 18 mins @ 190c (first 10mins skin-side down, then flipped as per instructions found on the net)

Oven baked on the left, airfryer right. Pic taken after 10 mins resting under foil.

Both are good, but there's no mistaking the oven baked definitely produced a more tender and juicy result. Maybe if cooked at a slightly lower temp in the airfryer the results may have been closer, but I looked at a lot of sites online and they all suggested a 180 to 200c temp.

Nice test and further evidence that will keep me from buying an air fryer.

Just be sure it can get up to circa 230 degrees c.
I bought TEFAL, and it can’t get above 200. That’s not high enough for baking many types of bread.

The oven is better than the toaster.

I wouldn't take his one chicken test on not buying an air fryer. I barely use an oven since I got an air fryer. I don't cook huge amounts of meat, but for a chicken breast it works fine for me. I also cook fish, veggies, etc, etc... in it. It makes things fast, no mess, easy clean and good food. I even cook burgers in it.

I have a very small air fryer, but it works for one person. The air fryer has caught on, as my mom now has one, and most people I know.

Probably always was/is better......or a least no difference.
Headworx's simple comparative example [could've been cooking anything] might be proof that the fashionable religion of airfryers is so indoctrinating.

Air fried pork chop was good. Had a pork chop setting which was handy. Forgot to flip it so had to add an extra couple of minutes. Juicier than pan frying but I am terrible at panfrying. I feel like the pork chop shrank more than usual but I might be imagining that or down to my cheap pork chops.

Just to add, if I could only keep one of the two between a conventional oven and an airfryer the oven would be staying. But having both is great, I'd buy an airfryer just for cooking bacon

    That's surprising with TEFAL.

From Breville's site .... the wife wants something she can use as a regular oven as well. It's kind of hard to bake a bunch of cookies in an regular air fryer.

Yeah, look for user reviews saying that they have actually got that temp.

    Check Amazon.

I can do biscuits in that oven fine. They are generally 180 - 190.

Impossible in my air fryer to do even 10 biscuits.

Checked, it goes to 500F. But reading further, it was a 3.5 qt dutch oven not 5 qt and they had to remove the knob off the lid so it would fit. Still, not bad.

Another resounding success for the air fryer over the gas oven.

15 mins at max 200 vs hours in the oven and supporting Russian gas sales.

    I present to TD .....

    Dry Airfried Beef Jerky/Biltong!!

Thinly sliced strips of sizzle beef..

Add herbs and spices of your preference and massage in a bag, then leave to marinate for a few hours...

    Bish into the clean airfryer..

    15 minutes later and bash!...

    Wasn't enough unfortunately, everybody enjoyed.

Unfortunately none left for the dog this time.

Gonna have to Bosh out a kilos worth next time due to the dehydration process.

    Shalom

I have found air fryers are great for heating pies.

Out of the freezer, then into the air fryer at 100 degrees C for 5 minutes for thawing and then 160 degrees C for 5 minutes.

    The pastry is perfect!
