He could do with apprenticing under a painter. Oh wait, apprenticing didn't work well with the family business - led to endless posts on Boomers and Fuk Dad blah blah

Don't forget to put some balls on your nose Skidz.

By balls I am of course referring to lead ball-bearings (not ladyboy's balls!) and by nose I am of course referring to the nose of your Me-262 (not your personal hooter!)

Put a couple of LBs (lead ball-bearings!) inside your nose, stuck in place with blu-tack before you fuse the 2 halves of the fuselage together.

If you don't then you will end up with a tail-sitter like the radar-equipped nacht-jager on the right.

I also went to dig out my 2 1/48 scale jobbos only to discover that my monster 50mm kannon tank-buster varietal has got its canopy clouded. This tragic discovery has fucked up my entire weekend.

Don't make the mistake of gluing your canopy on with CA glue or you can end up fogged and clouded. Better to use PVA.

^ You have a whole fleet of 262's eh. Those look like top tier model building.

Haha yeah I don't have the front landing gear door on yet. So that I can stuff some fishing weights in there. I just have buy weights yet. I might hang this one. But even if hanging it , the front is too light.

Do you buy yours painted ? Those are some detailed paint jobs. I don't have the skills to feather in the camo like that. So I made the bottom grey with the rest green. If you try too hard on the details right away without having the skills, it ends up looking like a mess.

A tad bland. There's a red and blue stripe for the back that I can put on.

None of Loopers have the blue and red stripe either. A different squad had those

    It didn't come with swastikas

What to build next. I ordered some Russian kits because of sanctions concerns. This su 25 Frogfoot would be a good build. Maybe I'll get an A10 to go against it later. Its one of those planes that looks good in the air but on the ground not so much.

^^ That looks better, but is it yours or one you took off the Internet?

I've always liked the 1950s era of jets as models. However, I prefer wooden boats, especially if they are RC.

Why not try your hand at a US carrier, like the USS Forrestal? That would be a fun project.

It looks like an 8 year old's effort because you checked out of painting it properly.

This is a 44 cc twin cylinder engine that powered one of the planes I flew up in Mae Taeng. Knowing what was up front was motivational in maintaining directional control when landing or doing touch-and-gos as it could do some serious damage.

    A Polish MiG-29

Planes trains and autos. Model building-img_20220529_094343-jpg

No-balls Biden bottled it and would not back the Polski's offer of scrambling their MiGs to the Ukraine and buying F-16s as replacements, so I am putting my balls where Biden's mouth is and sending this Polish MiG-29 by ExpressPost to the Zelsk-meister for his desk.

The Polski's paint war-banners on the backs of their MiG-29s which I think is a top idea.

I like. Works of art. Shadow painting the seams like this is way above my pay grade

Hey have you any experience hanging these models ? I was gonna try and hang by 262 from the ceiling in my mancave.

    WFT?

I learned how to paint shadows, highlights and washes in 1984, before YouTube and the internets.

Cute engine. I wonder how they rebuild those little things. Little head bolts , gaskets. Piston rings with tweezers ?

They are pretty easy to work on, and yeah, all the parts are smaller. Hex head cylinder bolts. I used a carb from the local small engine shop in Mae Taeng as the original carb had issues.

    Well spotted Willy.

    This was a strategic choice.

A new set of missiles are loaded by the weapons crew every day for another round of commie-bombing, so they are supposed to look factory fresh in contrast with the weathered crate.

I have not hung one from the ceiling since I was a nipper-snapper but I was actually thinking about hanging one from the ceiling fan for a larf

It will need 4 threads minimum I think in order to keep it on an even keel.

The threads will need to be connected to the fan in a clever way in order to allow the plane to lean out like a fairground ride as the fan speeds up.

I have not figured out the details of this bit yet but watch this space...

1/72 Mig 31 kit straight out of Russia. The instructions are a little crammed by the end. The fit and finish is decent. All kits should come with a stand like this.
Just out of the paint booth. Needs decals and weapons to finish it off.

First time using liquid mask. Its pretty good stuff. These painted canopies from this era are a bitch. They had a lot of shielding to protect from flash from nuclear war. The Vulcan bomber had a similar setup
