It's early days for Simon. He just got there. I know his sexual peccadilloes were rubber a rubber doll in Luang prabang . But I'm sure hoping he leaves all aside and try's to harpoon a few of the local hussys and report right back.

In fairness he should be out and about celebrating his new found health, and maybe topping off an evening with a nice threesome (or 3.5 some if Candy’s head gets in on the action.)

Prices, pictures, venues would be most welcome.

    Good luck Simon

Thanks for all the comments! I'm still recovering from the night flight, renting a temporary apartment, renting a car, getting a data SIM card etc etc.

There are plenty of women here, wearing far less than what was the norm in Turkey of course. The weather is hot, so plenty on show. The ladies vary from slim and wow to about elephant size (typical large African woman and looks OK in this location, but my frail body would be squashed!).

Mauritius is actually the richest country in Africa, according to Google. I went shopping in the supermarket and there is a huge range of local and imported food, and prices look ok.

The local main language is Creole French, but locals also speak good English. Most expats seem to be French.

I have rented a jeep to enable me to go up to the north of the island to check out some properties, such as:

House / Villa - For Rent in Cap Malheureux - 26,000 rupees | Lexpress Property

for $600 USD a month, with a nice pool and 50m from the beach...

I am busy teaching online again - the internet speed is crap on a mobile in the busy town where I am right now, but was ok for my 1st lesson into China. When I rent a house (asap), I will get fibre installed. The nice lady at Mauritius Telecom sorted out the unlimited data SIM package for just 35c US per day, and at her location just out of town, I was getting 40 Mbps down and 25 up, which is great.

Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile

The thing with these fat African women, while you are groping and trying to get your arms around their huge bodies, you'll probably find 2 tiny little toddlers strapped to her back amongst the rug...

The ham licence is fine to sort out. There is a local radio amateur club and they have told me how to get the licence

I just popped out for a walk on the beach after teaching - the photo is crappy because - Hey! - I have a crappy camera and my photography skills are crappy! But it's a nice local beach with a reef, locals and expats having a swim. There seem to be 5 main groups that I see:

    - expat/tourists, mostly French -speaking
    - local Africans hanging around, speaking Creole
    - local Indian family groups, speaking Creole

Word from others is that the Indians are fine, but that many of the local Africans have a drug problem (meaning that they have a problem finding money for their drug habit haha!)

Anyway, I will check out a house or 2 in a quieter location up north next week.

You enter on a 60-day tourist voa and then apply for either a retirement or digital nomad visa. They are both free! and the requirement to bring in $1500 each month is the same for both, so it would make sense to apply for the nomad version (you don't have to provide any business plan etc - just only earn income from outside Mauritius).

Oh I taught a few lessons today - the mobile internet in this busy little town was just about OK, so I think it will be fine in a less-busy village, plus I will also have fibre.

LOL, the telecom said they could run fiber anywhere on the island, they didn't say how long it would take.

I like their nomad visa, it's probably has the lowest earnings requirement of any.

    Bienvenue Monsiuer

A great pal alas dead in France was a cop in Maurice, tho born in Seychelles.
The FrancoWiggas may grate but he married a Ugandad and lived well.
With Covid banjaxing the Froggy tourists, TOM- Doms and as you say wit Irish passport online income you'll be fine for a while.
With the exception of NZ I find islands claustrophobic and itch to wander by sea or air.

Look forward to more of your adventures, as my 80 flights a year ceased with Covid and basically armchair travel now

My only advice is don't let that big Mama landlady catch you with Candy's "head in you lap in the hammock", could ruin your chance of BJ or rent in arrears.

As they say on Willy's balcony Bum Voyage

If it all gets too much LOS only has 14 day quarantine which is a bugga for vacation but retirement time to un=jetlag as for the visa agents can fix anything . You need no device on building hotels for ladies , perhaps just live in a nce cool Golden Triangle slum with Candy who know we may find her other bits n titz floating down Nam Mae Khong unless Beerlaodrinker is already doing to her what Randy Andy did the the kids.

Il St Maurice as you probably know means moreno/moorsih , the swarthy one. Swarthy is cognizant with Old High German Schwarz

Thanks! As you mentioned Bangkok/Thailand, I noticed as I passed through Istanbul Airport a few days ago that there was a healthy queue for the Istanbul - Bangkok flight. Mostly western guys either alone or with Thai family in tow.

Turkish Airlines fly's to Thailand Via Istanbul. When i was in swampy the number of flights from Europe was reduced drastically and Turkish is one of the few options

That beach looks like shit, Simon. Where's all the trash? Who would want to swim, much less hang out at the beach in such pristine conditions? Fook! Not a plastic bottle to be seen!

That's because they roll it up at night and then roll it out again the next morning. It also stops the local frotters from gathering there at night....

I googled Mauritius and found that it's only 2040 sq km. Bohol island in PH (I've vacationed there) is 4821 sq km. I reckon that I'd get island fever soon, in an island as small as Mauritius. But that's just me. Whatever floats your boat.

Good luck Simon in your new adventures. I hope you get your living conditions settled soon (long term rental, internet, etc). Keep us updated.

The mobile internet connection was shite today - so I cancelled all my classes and drove up to the north of the island to check out somewhere to live near the nice beaches. Interestingly, most of those beautiful beaches are hidden behind the high walls of posh houses that front the beach..... But Mon Choisy has a beautiful public beach, so that's where I set my sights. I'm in an airbnb right now (more shite internet), but have found a detached house with a private pool and big garden, and it already has a fibre internet line which I can upgrade to the top speed available.

I realise that I have to make compromises on the house that I rent. The house in question is a 10-minute drive to the beach, and 5 minutes to a big shopping centre. The private pool will offset that inconvenience. Since it's not squashed in with other houses, the mobile internet connection should be faster (the connections are 4G+, but many people are sharing each cell-site bandwidth, outside the towns the measured speed is 30 Mbps+).

I will have to cancel all my lessons tomorrow as well as I try to sort out a house asap....

Katie, I know what you mean by island fever. But to be honest, my latest bout of lung issues from the chilly weather in Turkey hit me hard. It's not lack of breath like asthma, just uncontrollable coughing and a huge physical tiredness (it's not Covid! I had a negative result before and after my recent flight). So right now, I just want to find somewhere to relax and gather my strength again

Anyway, I'll see what happens tomorrow...

Yeah. And where are the pesky vendors selling you beer and prawns and and all kinds of shit. No . Were not having it. Go find a better beach to post up a pic. For fucks sake
