Funnily enough i was just reading that article myself, at least their spirits are high

Dozens of customers at Britain's highest pub are set to spend a third night trapped by heavy snowfall brought by Storm Arwen.

Guests got stuck at the Tan Hill Inn, in the Yorkshire Dales, on Friday after going to watch an Oasis tribute band.

They are unable to leave because nearby roads are not useable partly due to fallen power cables.

Manager Nicola Townsend said everyone was in good spirits and that some people did not want leave.

Guests at the inn, which is 1,732ft (528m) above sea level, woke up to about 3ft (0.9m) of snow on Saturday, with it going all the way up near to the bedroom windows.

A tunnel has since been dug out of the front door of the pub, but because of damage to power cables the roads are unusable.

Ms Townsend said 61 people had so far spent two nights there, with many, including members of the band, having to set up camp in the pub's lounge.

She said 40 were pre-booked guests while others had gone to the pub for a drink on Friday.

Image caption,The listed inn is about five miles from the village of Keld in Swaledale

She added: "It's just been a lovely and everyone is in really good spirits.

"They've formed quite a friendship, like a big family is the best way I can describe it.

"One lady actually said 'I don't want to leave'."

She said staff had put on activities to keep people entertained, including a quiz and board games and that a karaoke evening was planned for later.

The manager added that mountain rescuers had made it through the snow to attend to one guest who needed medical attention for an ongoing issue.

One of the guests, Martin Overton, said the atmosphere was "very good" with "plenty of beer available".

His wife Stephanie added: "I'm quite chilled about being stranded, it's quite exciting but we're missing our son who is with his nana. I am wondering how long we will be here for though."

Elsewhere in North Yorkshire, the after-effects of the severe weather have continued to cause disruption.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they had been called to fallen power cables, in places including Hunmanby, Kilburn and High Birstwith.

Image caption,Severe weather warnings for snow and ice remain in place

There have been dozens of power cuts leaving hundreds of residents without power and most trains between York and Scotland have been cancelled as the the East Coast Mainline is closed between Newcastle and Edinburgh.

North Yorkshire County Council said staff together with emergency and utilities services continued to work together to deal with the aftermath of the storm.

A spokesperson said services were carrying out checks on people who may need extra help, particularly in areas affected by power outages.
    Shalom

Would not be so bad for those that have a room, but camping in the lounge does not sound as much fun. How many days of food will a pub hold?

I'd be more worried about whether they had enough beer for us all!

Surely they’d be ok for beer for a week or two. But imagine explaining to the missus you were only going out for a couple of pints on Friday…

Beer is food, besides i'm sure there's plenty of British culinary treats such as pork scratchings and scampi fries behind the bar.
    HW would love it

You've gotta admit it would be a great session!

As far as I know, from living next door to a pub once, they generally stock up on a Friday for the weekend and restock again on a Monday (people in the biz can correct me if I'm wrong). In normal circumstances, you'd obviously be ok, but with so many people propping up the bar for the entire weekend with nothing to do, I can imagine stocks getting low (of course, wines and spirits would see you through).

In terms of food, I imagine there'd be plenty of frozen stuff, as well as snacks, and they'd probably already shopped for the weekend anyway. Might have been slightly different had it been a quiet midweek night, mind.

According to our old window cleaner, who can talk for England, weather-enforced lock ins were apparently quite common when weather like this was more frequent in the 60s and 70s. What a ready-made excuse for the missus that one is when you roll in on Monday night!

Calling in to the boss on Monday morning must have been fun.

This happened to me once while in Yosemite staying at the Ahwahnee. A friend of mine and I went for the weekend and got in our room before a big and unexpected snowfall. People couldn’t leave. The place was packed. We ended up with strangers sleeping on the floor of our hotel room. Unfortunately, by Sunday evening the roads were cleared. We were having a grand old time.

Mistaking you for the gardener in the middle of the night and getting a bit too close for comfort in his Christmas-themed budgie smugglers.

As fast as they were clearing the snow, I'd be throwing it back.

The frontman for Van Halen, David Lee Roth, was stuck at the same hotel. I didn’t know this until I was standing in line for the restaurant. There was this guy standing in front of me who had a blonde fluffy rock and roll hairdo with a big bald spot right at the crown. I was mesmerized. He turns around and looks me straight in the face with a big scowl. It was Roth. It was embarrassing.

That’s the last I saw of him until I saw a video of him climbing Half Dome.

Looks like it would be fun for a few days but would be a drag after that. Especially with Chitty on the piss.

The article mentioned that there were downed power lines. If they had lost power, this would be a very different article.
