It's weird though, scratch the surface of a lot of right-wingers and you'll find many basically crave to be dominated by and subjugated to an authoritarian regime. Like the 'bUt mA FrEEdUmBs!' mob who cheered every anti-democracy and autocratic move Trump made--they veritably creamed themselves over just the idea of political opponents being locked up / executed.

Freud would have a field day with that shit!

There’s absolutely no doubt that he pays good money to be told he’s a bad little boy, ritually humiliated and—given his repetition—bent over and have his baboon butt sodimized by beefcakes wielding massive black dildos.

Demos kratos. Citizen rule as the the Greeks called it 2500 years ago will continue. It may change a fair bit from how it is practiced now but the days of absolute monarchies or dictatorships are long past. With the technology available today and it's rapid advancement it is certain, in time, we will have true democracy. Direct rule by citizens.

    as expected.

when confronted with an opinion that goes against the perceived groupthink of the day, the response is an onslaught of unsubstantiated insult and abuse based on the kind of stereotyping that the woke would normally find revolting, insulting and offensive. if you and basement boy cant argue the point, then its better to stfu.

but then again, you are incapable of thinking for yourself, or using history, human nature or looking at the bigger picture when formulating your views. its blinkers on every time with you.

in a homogenous society maybe. in a massively diverse society, it is almost impossible.

just look at the chaos caused by a tiny group of activists called "insulate britain" last month. everything they did was within their rights, yet they caused hardship for thousands and could not legally be challenged until the law was changed. the government was powerless to stop them, the police stood by and watched them, fearful of breaking the law, and affected people were on the verge of taking the law into their own hands. and this is in britain, a true democracy if ever their was one.

true democracy is slowly becoming unworkable.

This is my fear. Your comments re China were spot on. Frankly, I am conflicted right now. I don't know where this is going. Or what is the best way forward.

Well, since you are a denialist and blindly advocate for the CCP and Putin you are a shill. I think you like ohDoh have chosen sides and are clearly treasonous bastards. Just the same as the trumpanzees on January the sixth.

You are frankly very simple minded. Which is why you think you know it all. This is the problem with our democracy right now- meanwhile others are eating your lunch.

That's why in the U.S. the founding fathers decided against direct democracy and for representative democracy where you elect representitives to make decisions for you.

    I don't think so.

There is just more noise now with 24 hours news and especially social media.

A three sentence cop out. Once again, I assume when you say "your" you are referring to the US. You must be into the wine again.

China is amoral, they are a soulless enemy. The reality is that they will be the death of mankind.

That I am. But too many of our pluralistic societies resources are being wasted on wasters- be they Woke/ BLM types or Trumptard numpties. What they all have in common is Greed- gimme. I want more of the cake. And power (same thing really).

We no longer have an effective monopoly of the critical resources- be it energy, military might, technology, or wealth. We are being overtaken, by a society that marshalls and utilises it's resources much more effectively.

You think Portlandia is gonna change that?

Poor comparison I feel. One is about being granted equal rights and the other maintaining the imbalance of that status quo and a system that benefits the few.

I do think, at the top end, we need to become more meritocratic. The days of affirmative action are over. And our society can no longer afford to slow down for the few, or the developmentally arrested. And hang the fecking lawyers, that is the first thing we must do.

Would solve a bunch of ills in the US. 168 Representatives and 57 Senators have a law degree. Of these, five (three Representative and two Senators) also hold a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree.

You should see what it's like over here Norts- maybe even worse. And totally unproductive, so much of it. Australia exists in a bubble, and Australians just take it for granted.

But not against TD mods rules.

Everyone can have their own "Rules based" world. Some still hold the UNGA as the true democratic organisation of reference.

Do these rules include rape by senior communist party officials without punishment?

Anyway, the discussion is about democracy - China has no place in it.

Though I do agree, one of the jobs is to create and enact laws . . . kind of makes sense to have lawyers do that.

I recall a recent president who wasn't a lawyer . . . look how well that turned out.

In Oz lawyers are vastly over represented in public office. Certainly needs a more diverse range of working backgrounds. I doubt that any meritocracy will exist in government. It is requires money and people who can talk the most and say the least.
