It seems like you’re confusing ‘ambitions’ with just ‘more stuff you want’.
A lot of blather there, as usual, so it’s not clear what your point is but my best guess is ‘Loads of people envy me’. So whatever your passport or parentage, you really do sound like you’re from the US.

Sour grapes for what ?
Would it take me anywhere to...envy you ?
Have I any reason to envy you ?
Your youth ?

Has it to do with you moving to a place where you are a top 1 %'er.
I stayed in Khon Kaen too, you know.
But have to admit that living the life of Kroisos got to me.
Perhaps a weakness of mine, that I do not feel comfortable, when my ........fellow man aren't.
But we do come from different places and have different upbringings
I'm with you there
I have plenty of regrets, but no one is to blame, but the devil inside me.
I'll put the regrets in the box marked 'experience' and try to pass them on to the boy.
If he'll listen, I'll be happy; if he won't, that'll be ok too
Did I mention, that you can stick your sour grapes up you otherwise oneway greek ass ?
^ tell BB you are thinking of moving to Northern Cyprus
Some of us are not as fortunate, but good to know what I believe is that most can do the same as you are doing in the states now. My mother orders everything (food) online and has been doing it for some time now.
When in the states I do not reside close to any large city and getting a large supermarket chain to deliver might be impossible. While I was at home in the states, Amazon and FedEx still made deliveries, but not fresh food.
The covid situation didn’t affect me much except for the fact that I had to turn down friends that wanted to visit or refuse invitations for certain gatherings (there were people still holding parties). I did attend funerals but precautions were taken. One was outside and social distancing was followed and I was asked to attend family only services (I wasn’t family) with the other.
Only one real problem. Close contact/no mask with people who didn’t think covid was a real problem.
Some of guys I work with didn’t believe they needed the vaccination.
During that period of time the girlfriend arrived (from Thailand) and stayed at home for the first two weeks. The day after that self-quarantine ended my daughter had set an appointment for her to receive her first injection. It wasn’t a problem even for her being a non-citizen. The next morning, I met with some of the guys and told them how easy it was to do and told them to take a half a day off and go get vaccinated at the same place (walk-ins were being accepted), if they wanted to.
Problem was solved the next day, they had been vaccinated. The manager had told me he received a call from one of the neighbors who said that some woman from the government was there giving injections.
Shortly after the 2nd Covid peak in Florida a stay-at-home order was given except for certain groups.
Agriculture was one group.
I did very little traveling but when I did all precautions were taken and was happy I was able to, because I was able to spend some quality time with my daughter.
For the most part, things worked well for me and the family. Most friends were able to avoid covid however there were a few that did catch it (at least 10). Thank goodness they were healthy with no pre-existing conditions. But some are still not 100%.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Well honestly Snubs, Its pretty much the same in these parts as you in Seattle. Wife still makes her morning runs to the local market for supplies but about half our meals are ordered and delivered daily. The delivered food is pretty good. Some of the restaurants have become very professional in their delivery and packaging. Outside of that, as many have mentioned, many of the local restaurants we used to go out to are closed up and gone and seriously doubt they will return. A shame really as some were really nice places to eat.
On my trip back to the states recently, I found it to be about the same. We frequently ordered food in at my parents house. However the little butcher shop/ store around the corner was open and I would walk over and pick up some nice steaks or fish and Q at home with them. I avoided becoming a hermit like so many were becoming.
For now, I think this is part of the "New" pre covid life we will live until something changes.
I agree, so much has changed due to Covid. Traveling is a nightmare, the rules here are constantly in a state of flux making it hard to plan to do anything, good restaurants are gone, nobody visit people anymore so the social gatherings which were fun are gone, having to wear a mask all the time which I absolutely hate. I think for me the only real upside has been working from home 100%. But even that has its own issues as you lose continuity with operations at the factory with folks. Vid calls do help but I still prefer the face to face social interaction.
How much will return to what it was is a huge unknown. Things are relaxing a bit but I suspect the mask thing will become an issue as it did in the states and other Western countries. There will be stares and arguments.
It’s actually only in the US where a significant number of people have been complete twats about it.
I see no reason at all why Thais should go that way. From what I’ve seen over the last three months, Thais will not be kicking up a fuss about masks. They are pissed off with Prayuth and his boss in significant numbers, though.
I wear one every time I am out the door. The big thing, I think, is to find one that works for YOU. There are so many different styles, types and models - you gotta explore.
I was talking to my mum the other day (She is in UK), she was recounting trouble she had with her mask - the wire bit was bothering her chin. Sigh. That meant she had it on upside down. She then stated that she had three other masks at home.
I laughed. Just looking around my bedroom - I have something like 100 or so, and an equal number scattered elsewhere around the house (for the kid/missus). Mostly single use disposables.
The best (for me) are the 3D "asian style" (think they first became popular in this part of the world). But even then, different models have different "wearability".
Get a make/style that works for you, and it becomes much less onerous.
^ the problem is the single use type masks are designed to work, al these fabric ones are pretty much a fashion statement and waste of time.
I agree Nidhogg and my wife has 20 or so different ones around and I have found a few that work for what I may be doing at a given time. For me I hate wearing one when riding my Mtn bike. I have altered my riding routes to stay away from people however when I drop the mask as I am riding to breath and not sweat in it, invariably someone sees me or passes by on a scooter and I get the "Stare" like I am breaking the law and contaminating the planet. Of course I am 20 or 30 ft away from them but that doesn't matter. Wearing one in a mall or high traffic areas (while I still do not like them) I wear without question.
To Cyrille's comment above about Thai folks, Do not kid yourself. There have been quite a few run ups with people not wearing them or wearing them improperly and people publicly arguing. I saw one at the Central Mall parking lot just a few weeks back. My wife reminds me about it when she reads about them in the local news etc. Locally we have this current situation where people have tested positive or have been exposed to Covid and they are not staying home nor informing people they have it or been exposed, especially at the local markets. On the local Mooban PA speech system, the Grand poobah the other day warned people of this situation and to stay away from the markets. How long this will go on who knows.
I guess it is, what it is.
reading this is like watching a lakorn movie.
Just keep safe and be careful job done.
Nothing too onerous. I wear a mask outside, I check my temperature when going into shops and some other buildings and I splash some gel on to my hands now and again. Restaurants are open and I haven't had any food delivered at all during the pandemic. No need to. But I did download some delivery apps just in case. I see plenty of delivery motorcycles around so obviously other people are getting food delivered. All the people I know personally and have spoken to recently have been vaccinated. I'm still cautious about going to busy places like markets, though. If I go, I don't stay there long - just in and out to get what I went there for.
I did and do a lot of this, but now we are into winter storm season here, and it has been nasty. Cold, windy and raining sideways with flooding in some areas, so it looks like I am going to broiling burgers and steaks, at least for the time being.
I always wear my mask as well, I have gotten used to it and like the fact that I haven't caught the flue or a cold since before the pandemic.
I just went out to the local steakhouse and had a prime rib sandwich. It was quite nice, if I do say so myself.

I have no issues wearing a mask.
Half the time I'm out I've used my motorbike so wear one of these, as I wear them under my helmet anyway.
Pull up over the nose when required. Around 100b in Decathlon.
Amazon may deliver in half the time.
That's the one.
Got 6 different colours to match which hotpants I'm wearing.
