Quite why anyone would try and compare the chemical-soaked, fat laden dross that America churns out with any country that has a mature culinary culture is beyond me.

As for the convicts, let's face it, originality is not their strong point, is it?

Witchety grubs is probably the nearest thing they've got to a national dish.

I gotta get in here now and take up for the Aussies! A piece of hot buttered toast with Vegemite is heaven.

Anyone who would tip a can of pork and beans onto their breakfast plate…

A second-rate copy of Marmite, obviously.

And also a national symbol, which really is quite pathetic.

Having seen American breakfasts of pancakes, honey and bacon (what the fuck?), your opinion is rendered invalid.

God bless Teakdoor. We're really getting into the nitty gritty of the hot topics today.

I’ve not eaten Marmite in so long, I’ve forgotten how it tastes. Can’t be that much difference between the two.

Grits. Don't forget Americans rave about grits.

    I'd rather eat grit.

So, 4 pages in, have we finally established that Britain is superior to everyone else in terms of culture, sports, food and, well, just being British?

Ok, we lose on the weather, but we win everywhere else.

You could put those things on anything edible and they'd taste pretty good.

It's the culinary equivalent of headwank heading into town with a thousand baht to blow.

    I imagine.
