Aye, HW has mentioned he's not an Aussie but, unlike the rest of us, won't nail his colours to the mast.

Is he that embarrassed about his own country?

Yes indeed the English cuisine is renown around the world, Why when I was living in NYC you could not go two locks down third avenue without running into an English food restaurant.

Only an Aussie would think that you go "two locks" down Third avenue.

everyone else would think that perhaps the ink on the carbon paper on my typewriter had worn out.

Don't be silly, they just didn't have restos. Another great thing the empire invented.

Are you refering to the Roman empire?
" Did Ancient Rome have any restaurants?"
"It did! These were called thermopolia, and they were ancient Roman businesses that served the public both hot and cold food, "
Did Ancient Rome have any restaurants? Places where people would sit and order food and socialize? If not, then when did restaurants become the norm? : AskHistorians

IMO what the British do was import Indian cuisine to Europe they did not invent it and as such is not English food.

    Oh , also
"According to Elliott Shore and Katie Rawson, co-authors of Dining Out: A Global History of Restaurants, the very first establishments that were easily recognizable as restaurants popped up around 1100 A.D. in China "
When Did People Start Eating in Restaurants? - HISTORY
And let's not forget France where the word reasturant originated
"The word restaurant comes from the French verb restaurer, “to restore oneself,” and the first true French restaurants, opened decades before the 1789 Revolution, purported to be health-food shops selling one principle dish: bouillon. The French description for this type of slow-simmered bone broth or consommé is a bouillon restaurant or “restorative broth.” "
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

Of course there's an unparallelled range of cuisines because there's an unparalleled range of immigrants there in case you hadn't noticed, and it's not like they're going to eat the same shit you Poms do. No way Muhammed with his 5 wives and 8 kids from Somalia or Cola from Nigeria with his tribe in tow will be hitting the local 'Spoons for a fucking fry-up is there you idiot.

Oh, I forgot. There aren't any.

    I wonder why?
'Cause there's not many Aussies there to cater to might be your first clue. It's not like Australians have a long history of boarding a ship or plane in search of a better life in another country (often sight-unseen) like you lot are so famous for is it. That's why you can find typical English fare pretty much anywhere in the world, there's not many places Poms haven't set up tent escaping the very same shithole they'll defend as being paradise in threads like this

Indeed. Where would Indian cuisine be without the British addition of 10 pints of lager?

The world really should be more thankful for what we have done for them.

If only someone could write that on a note and sellotape it across headwank's monitor.

Pretty sure he thinks Max Walker is going to take us apart.

There are fucking loads of them and almost any young Aussie's dream is to escape the culture-void that is Australia and fly to Europe (with London at the very top of the list) to experience some real culture ASAP. Try Earls Court on any weekend at about 4pm to see hundreds falling about, being annoying cnuts, cos they can't handle a proper pint of beer compared to the piss they usually drink at home.

Funny that you're happy to give it out and hang on to Australia's coattails, but not so keen to tell us where you're from.

Is it that much of a shithole?

He's 60+ in Pattaya, plays golf and happily admits to having had his knob polished by all the best exponents of the craft in town, and still reckons the best thing to keep quiet about is being Australian.
