The trees are colourful but the sky is fucking grey. The nights are drawing in and there'll be more darkness than light very shortly for the next 6 months., That and the constant fucking drizzle

I'm gonna buy a springer spaniel I think, or a red setter or a cockadoodle. Tis a great time to be out rambling in the countryside in the fresh air, treading on crisp leaves and spikey conker cases amidst that sweet aroma of fresh cow shit at this time of year.

The fair comes to town next week, then there's Halloween, bonfire night and the best place IMHO to spend Christmas and see in the New Year.

I mused recently that seasonal changes are a bit more subtle in the tropics. The more dramatic changes in temperate climates are a pleasure denied to us in the tropics.

Balanced by only minor changes in the length of days and nights, and up to four growing seasons for some crops.

Wistful thinking, rather than wishful thinking.

From mentioning Halloween, I assume you are in the US, where at? if you don't mind me asking?
I agree, a great time of the year for a walk in the woods.
Near by where we lived in NY Was Bear mountain, we loved going there in the fall, also by Greenwood lake we could access the Appalachian trail.

That's on the Appalachian trail , hard to believe we were ever that young.
Below are pictures from Bear Mountain by the lake at the base camp.

Aw, Asheville is amazing! I stopped there for a night on the way to the Blue Ridge Mountains from Raleigh-Durham. Got my first tattoo in Asheville.
I lived and worked in NC for a year, it is a beautiful state! The Blue Ridge mountains are so nice, and they go on forever.

We drove up to Clingmans Dome , a beautifully drive, and I remember thinking, that before these roads that it would have taken forever to go anywhere in that area.

It is spring down under as Miss Lusty gazes out towards the Darling Downs

    Anyone else like Fall/Autumn?-img_20211010_185545-jpg

Looking west over sweeping gumtree vistas to the horizon with not a house or road in sight I was half hoping to see a grazing dinosaur amble into view and munch on a hanging branch

    Anyone else like Fall/Autumn?-img_20211010_185717-jpg

We were the only people there for about 25 minutes. It was surreal, which got me to thoughts of dinosaurs.

    Loops a banana bender.

Tourists don't really come to the temperate parts of Australia for our Autumn- I think things like beaches, Sydney harbour, the Barrier reef etc are more part of their agenda.

But in places like the Dandenongs and Adelaide hills (pictured here), it's beautiful-

^Lovely, Sabang. Wine country as well I believe.
I'd love to get back to Australia at some point. It is truly amazing how diverse Australia is from north to south.
I've only been to Cairns and to the Melbourne and Sydney airport.

Big time. Between Barossa/ Mclaren Vale/ Adelaide Hills/ Eden Valley/ Langhorne Creek/ Clare valley, you should be right.

Autumn has it's charms in the Barossa too-

Spectacular pictures all. Thank you all.

Over here on the wet coast of Canada I swear we missed Fall completely. It seems one week we were in the summer heat and a couple of weeks later we were banging on winters door. Never seen anything quite like it.

The Darling Downs on the dinosaur horizon are just inland from Brisbane

This week's spring showers stopped for long enough to let me get some photos of the rain drops on the petals of my Amaryllis

Ya, that really sucks, Russ. We've had 20 degree weather for the last few weeks. Changing tomorrow though back to normal.

Being a coastal dweller north of Brisbane the only real change is the amount of rain and the temperature. The only way I have of marking the seasons here is by the flowering of the jacarandahs which seem to have started flowering in Mid Spring in October over the last few years whereas it use to be November. Global warming maybe.
The first month of autumn here is Maximum daytime temperature around 28°C, cooling as autumn progresses to around 26°C D/T max in April to a D/T max of around 24°C in May. In winter the average temp floats between around 21°C in the day and 13°C at night.
