    Anyone else like Fall/Autumn?

    Post your own or ripped photos of fall/autumn colors.

    Fall is getting into full gear now here in Canada. Feel free to add your own.

    Nothing Gold Can Stay

    -Robert Frost

    Nature’s first green is gold,
    Her hardest hue to hold.
    Her early leaf’s a flower;
    But only so an hour.
    Then leaf subsides to leaf.
    So Eden sank to grief,
    So dawn goes down to day.
    Nothing gold can stay.

    I hope you realize this is a Thai based forum and we do not have 4 seasons, and sure do not have a cool fall and cold winter. But I know you love to post your photographs regardless, so carry on.

    Many people have lived in other countries that have fall or are currently living in a place that has fall. Not all people on this forum live in Thailand and like Buckaroo mentioned in his green, he misses Fall.
    So you can still like fall and post fall pics even if you live in Thailand, What person wouldn't like fall colors anyway? As always you are the negative person to all that I post.

    If you don't like it then don't read it or post on it, easy as that. You own this forum?

    I don't really like fall. Around here that means in two weeks its going to be a cold bald barren wasteland. Crops are off, trees are bare, here comes 6 months of winter.

    The colours are nice.

    ^ I feel the same... when I lived in the UK, autumn meant the winter was on on its way so I always preferred spring with the promise of summer.

    But autumn colours take some beating.

    Ya true, soon the leaves will be gone and shit winter will be here, but... fall is so fleeting and colorful which is why it needs to be appreciated.

    Fall leaves, fall by Emily Bronte

    Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;

    Lengthen night and shorten day;

    Every leaf speaks bliss to me

    Fluttering from the autumn tree.

    I shall smile when wreaths of snow

    Blossom where the rose should grow;

    I shall sing when night’s decay

    Ushers in a drearier day.

    Why is it that we have a double standard? I's ok for the men to post pictures of the English countryside , clastic cars or for me Greek islands but not for MM to post pleasant autumn pictures.
    Personally Autumn in the US is one of my top four seasons. In the US it's the season of leaves turning, tomatoea and other vegetables coming in with abidance, and the promise of winter and snow.
    The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

    Nope, Spring and Summer . . . Autumn and winter can get stuffed.

    Pretty pics, though

    I might be wrong, and it might be just my perception, but I have seen MM attacked for the same things we all post , in ways that we are not.
    -Depending on where in the world you are, and your predisposition. people travel for hundreds of miles to experience the changing of the leaves, In the US, Thanksgiving and halloween , The family getting together and pretend we like each other, and Dressing up the kids to go out Trick or treat and an excuse to act like a kid.
    And then there is the Promise of winter and winter sports. Not all about winter is negative.

    I like spring/summer too, but tend to appreciate Fall more these days.
    I guess if you are used to living in hot climates you tend to get used to that and perhaps don't miss the cold anymore.
    I know I got used to warmer winters when living overseas, so still have a hard time adjusting to the sometimes brutal winters..trying to appreciate it more.
    I'll be doing more skating and cross country skiing this season.

    Thanks for your input. I'll probably post more pics of fall since I had mentioned to post fall pics. Gotta hit the hay.

    nice topic mm.

    when we lived full time in thailand we always timed our yearly visits to the uk for september/october.

    there is still warmth in the sun, there is still daylight at 6pm, the trees are still full of leaves that are turning into a stunning palette of colour. it is the best time of the year. the early morning and early evening light is the best of the year as are the ever changing cloudscapes as the weather fronts invade the country from the atlantic.

    northern europeans are drawn to the blue skies and heat of thailand, but after a couple of years there the stifling heat and the utter predictability of both the weather and the flora is just plain boring, and the enervating humidity, relentless rains and disruptions of the monsoon season are far worse than anything the british climate can throw at you, and for those who enjoy the outdoors its easier to keep warm than it is to keep cool.

    so yes. i love the autumn.

    One of my favorite seasons in this part of the world, also a fan of the harsh winters for hiking. If you have the correct clothes and equipment this is a nice route in the snow. Will try to get up there later this year for winter pics.

    When I last lived in the US more than fifty years ago, I lived in New England, close enough to Canada that you could smell the boredom if the wind was right. Fall simply meant that Winter, all six months of it, was coming soon. I don't recall any particular fondness for Fall. Winter was good for snowshoes, skiing and ice fishing. The month of Spring was short. Summer was good for the lakes, swimming and fishing. But, after 44 years in Asia, the four seasons are but a dim memory, not particularly missed.

    I do as well. Fall is my favorite season of all. I love the falling temperature and the rains that come along with them. A nice relief from the horribly hot summer and all the forest fires that seem to be more and more constant due to climate change.

    haven't lived anywhere cold for 2 decades but thanks for the pictures and Mandyloppy, it great people make an effort rather than just negative critter excism

    I did meet a stray goose once who saverred she liked fall and was also phuketbound so make of that what you will, she went off with a man from nantuket so may have misheard.

    In moderate clmes where winter is nothing to fear like the Xelb (Silves) Algarve interior of Portugal, Andalucia the fall /autumn is harvest time , time to hunt chestnuts, wlanuts, truffles if your lucky and enjoy teh wonderful colours a break from the seering heat and a time to wine and dine on th terrace befor the winter darker nights approach.

    I realize for fridge dwellers ,having lived in Finland its time to check the gear, clean tall gutters, make Suanas ,, chimneys, boats and vehicles safe, snowmobiles snow chains ready for the nutfreezer.
    My neighbour in Hammenlina near Tammerfors a Mr Claus sed to say he was servicing his reindeer for a trip North , but ole Heiki like a gargle or 3.

    Not sure if pic is Helge or Keatsy

    A beautiful view from a gentleman of leisure and refinement, the Wivnail if you will of stiff collars laudanum and ladies gagging for his Laudanum and pistol evenings.

    John Keats was one of the best loved English poets. His work was in publication only for four years before he croaked at the early score of 25.
    He is most renowned for the six great odes, written a couple of years before his death in 1819 an English Romantic poet who rose to fame after his death and, by the end of the nineteenth century, an early example of an influencer, notice his ref to twitter in his last stanza! We all learned these at school .

    TO AUTUMN

    Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
    Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
    Conspiring with him how to load and bless
    With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
    To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
    And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
    To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
    With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
    And still more, later flowers for the bees,
    Until they think warm days will never cease,
    For summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

    Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
    Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
    Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
    Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
    Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,
    Drows'd with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
    Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
    And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
    Steady thy laden head across a brook;
    Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
    Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

    Where are the songs of spring? Ay, Where are they?
    Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
    While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
    And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
    Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
    Among the river sallows, borne aloft
    Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
    And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
    Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
    The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;
    And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.”
