Slender September Fat Camp: Biggest Loser Wins

Carrying on from debate about BMI in Mendip’s work thread…

I always assumed the Thai BMI didn’t apply to me, being a farang but research between Bangkok Hospital BMI and the NHS UK showed me that they are exactly the same. The UK one asked me for my age and a rough indication of how active I am, whereas the Thai one did not. It didn’t make any difference to the result.

I’d like to try and get my BMI down to what the ‘experts’ class as not obese, just to see how I look and feel.

We could compare to see who loses the most KGs or maybe more fairly to see who can reduce their BMI the most.

    Anyone game?

    Winner gets a pie.

Spoiler: I'll start at around 79kg and finish at around 75-76-ish.

Have been meaning to get rid of those Euro 2020 pounds.

(Fokin' Euro 2020. Stay up until 4am watching football they said. It's only 3 weeks they said. Wankers. Just about getting my sleep pattern back to normal 1 month later )

    PS.

Am I allowed to bore the pants off everyone with my daily cycling data?

    BMI 30.8

I think there's a correlation between weight gain and drinking huge quantities of beer whilst sitting on my ass. If I can get under 30 I can loose the "obese" tag, that's incentive.

You could probably do that by fasting for a day.

lost enough weight over lockdown cycling 3000miles in 16 months. Need to get back in the gym and regain my upper body muscles.

Having said that, getting leaner and heavier couldn't hurt, so I'm in.

The need to lose some kgs comes shortly behind successfully quitting smoking. I put my foot down when I got to 89kg, 6kg up from my smoking weight.

Try using the free app called “Smoke Free”. I just quit one day and that was that. The app is still counting.

Lol - there was a spot of dirt on my computer screen and I misread that as:

I'm game Dirk, although it seems like a lot of work for a pie... maybe throw in a sausage roll as well?

I stopped smoking in July 2003 and it's been a battle with weight ever since.

The NHS site seems to think I have a BMI of 31.2... I tried a few other sites and they all agree. This again puts me in this so called 'obese' category.

A lot of it's muscle but they don't seem to take that into account, but anyway... I guess there is some fat in there too.

"'A lot of it's muscle but they don't seem to take that into account""^

Thats true. Not for me butler someone who does have a lot of bulky muscles its not that accurate.

I will use this BMI as a reference but truthfully walking naked past a mirror is pretty accurate also. I knew I was fat before I checked the BMI.
