We arrived in St Catherine at about 1am and started the hike at 1.20am before reaching the final steps/end of the trail at about 3.30am (there are rest stops along the initial hike) and leaving about 10/15 minutes later.

It was there that the fun began though with the 750 steps in the dark/breaking light which were nigh on vertical at times. I was fucked if I was tumbling off the edge of a mountain before I see Ten Hag lift the Premiership next May , so I did 30-50 steps and then took a breather. We reached the top at 4.30.

I saw this on the way out, so more or less 5 kms up and 5kms down in total. I would describe it as a moderate hike (certainly not fairly easy like had been written on some websites).

While I was sat scratching me bollox at the top, there were a number of older ladies arriving who had taken the many taxis which were available along the route.

Unfortunately, the Bedouin Uber can't negotiate the last 750 killer steps, so they're left to go it alone from the end of the trail. I saw 1 woman with tears streaming down her face pushing herself up those steps in the name of religion. It was something I'll never forget.

Yep, in Nepal some of the hikes are brutal, like nearly one day all uphill, next day the same and i saw more than a few people get emotional.

It got me thinking about religion and devotion. Putting a church here surely makes it understandable when somebody says they don't quite feel up to it today.

(there is a church there, believe me)

    Cheers dirk.

That area of the country is nicely located for beach stuff too, so I can't say it was all hard work up and down the sides of mountains.

Not my words, a quote from a dinner lady .

    Cool pics Hal!

Did you have a Jim Morrison moment and break on through to the other side?

unpacked at last, 1 year since its been plugged in. It amazes me, this Amp is 20 years old now, worth more than i paid for it. The power stage which is separate is 1 1/2 Kgs, still pumps it out.

I miss being able to play it so loud you couldn't stay inside...... no distortion. i had a main Amp Marantz which i used for parties that i didn't care when it blew fuses at 1 Kw with a small Marshall stack, from the bloke. it was loud.

The Sony system I have goes up to 50 on the volume scale, what that is in decibels I've no idea.

The loudest I've turned it to is 30 because of the neighbours.
If I ever move house I'll crank it up to 50 and bang on some 80's rave and leave it playing till 11pm at night.
