Russia to unveil brand new 5th gen fighter jet

5 days from now, Russia will unveil a brand new 5th generation stealth fighter. This will be a low mix light fighter intended to go up against F-35's and F-16's. The su 57 is Russia's first 5th gen air superiority heavy fighter. This will be the second.

Rostec , Russia's main military export concern, says that there is interest from 5 countries for export. India, Argentina, Vietnam, Algeria and the UAE

Cheaper to run/buy/maintain, no ameristani $$$$$$ or "contractors" required.

Similar weapons and electronics platform for predominantly overland missions.

    A winning formulae IMHO.

Coupled with Russian air defence systems, tanks, artillery .... Plus training and competent leadership.

Eurasian, African and South American air force's affordable dream plane may have arrived.

Touting capable of going up against the F16, first developed in 1978, is not exactly a strong marketing point.

Umm fighter aircraft are not consumer goods. The F-16 is a very aerodynamically capable aircraft.

It wasn't very good point made by Norton at all. F-16's are still made today in 2021. And they fly everyday in the US now too. But he wanted a wise-crack put down because that is what Americans all do with Russia.

Norton knew exactly what he was doing and is very much aware of the history of the F16. He also knows why the F16 was included in the marketing lingo. Obvious to the most casual observer. Yes, it was a wise crack.

F-16 user countries include Bahrain, Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, Greece, Indonesia, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, South Korea, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, USA, Venezuela. The F-16 continues as a modern, highly capable, affordable and supportable fighter. The program is healthy, with a strong likelihood of new orders that will extend the line for several more years.

    Huge market innit.

Because you were just in a very massive way "OWNED"

Owned, in common slang, means decisively defeated, with the implication of domination and possession.

The Mig 21 is the best selling jet powered aircraft in the world. 25 countries have Mig 29's in service.(In cae bsnub fact checks me, yes. Its close) More than the F-16. And as far as heavy fighters go, the su 27 Flanker is one of the best sellers in the world too.

...a best seller doesn't necessarily indicate effectiveness, just cheapness...and useful if Sierra Leone wants to threaten Liberia...
