A no nonsense, " you will get f*cked if you go out" lockdown on its own would do it. Couple that with even a minimally effective vaccine and you are probably going to get the result you want.

Do wonder how an anivaxxer would fare in China.......

Some folks I know have got COVID after having a Sinopharm jab and were still sick enough to warrant spending a week in bed. Different story with Sputnik, they thought they were suffering from seasonal allergies and only found out they had COVID as they need a PCR to fly home.

Maybe you should read some of misskit's posts:

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has reported that Thailand has the 8th highest number of serious or critical COVID-19 cases in the world, as defined by worldometers.info

CCSA spokesman Dr Thaveesilp Visanuyothin announced a jump in the number of patients with severe symptoms to 2,738, with 717 on ventilators. Thailand also logged 9,326 new cases and recorded 91 fatalities on 10 July.
Approaching 3,000 dead and it's barely even started, you witless buffoon.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the chinkies got pasted by the Xi variant?

GUANGZHOU, China — Authorities in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong are carrying out mass testing and have locked down areas to try to control a flare up of coronavirus cases in Guangzhou.
The city has cited the Delta variant of the coronavirus, first detected in India, as a driver behind the uptick in cases it has reported since the latter part of May. The Delta strain is known to be highly transmissible.

Well, shock horror, Australia has just recorded it's first Covid death this year- a 90 year old NSW woman, unvaccinated. Not that you would know it- Sydney is in Lockdown, and looks like it will be for a couple more weeks because they have a growing outbreak of as yet untraced delta variant cases. Some mutterings about "immigrants", especially from South Asia, and their devious behaviour. Other states have closed the borders to NSW.

I guess some would call the aussie response overkill, but looking at the (predictable) mess in Thailand and others such banana republics, like the Fils, not so sure. In sleepy old Adelaide, life is pretty much normal. Using an app, you are supposed to record your attendance at restaurants, shopping malls etc. Few masks to be seen.

The main problem here is that Australia has been slow to get the vaccine out. Having done so well in the earlier stages of the pandemic, that was a dumb mistake.

After all this is over, well the shut downs and restrictions are finished, I probably will still wear a mask especially when in a crowded environment such as the sky train and when on a plane.

A goodly percentage of countries the world over are struggling to show progress in their respective vaccination programs.
Could of easily have seen these situations arising - attempting to keep up supply for 7.5 billion people and then add the usual mix of politics, bureaucracy and hidden corruption.

Playing devils advocate here, but worth considering that massive publicity attached to Chines vaccines could be attributed to the fact that more doses of it have been delivered world wide tha any other vaccine, and many poorer countries have fewer choices of vaccine available to them.

Also regarding the Delta variant. It may well be more transmissible than earlier infections, but it is no more. dangerous than existing Covid varieties, only more transmissible.

I don't know anyone who has won the lottery, yet I still believe it to be a real thing.

It really isn't relevant whom I know, my personal contacts are already self-selected. None of my friends is destitute, very aged or otherwise unable to take care of themselves, not representative of the vulnerable groups in the general population.

It is possible that government responses have been disproportionate in some ways, which still isn't the point. It is even more possible that some media reports are over-dramatised, which is also not the point. There are 4 million souls so far lost to Covid, officially, maybe more. Every life lost is a tragedy and I for one am not dismissive of Covid.

Don't know a single person. What I want to know is how can I be tested for antibodies?
