Is your idea of 'home' based on sweeping generalisations of how you are perceived by strangers?

    That must make things confusing.

Yeah I thought that was kind of odd Cyrille. Home is where one is happy and comfortable. I do not care what the government does or calls me. Thailand is where I work, call home and live. I always wondered why people in general always ask if I miss home? Just because you were born in one country doesn't mean you have to live there until you die and if you leave always return back. Its not like I was blindfolded and forced at gun point to move here.

Like AO above, there are some things I miss in the states and do when I visit but quite frankly I would rather spend those funds traveling to other places on the planet versus a return trip to the US. I always ask the people in the states when they say "When will you come visit us". I usually ask, "when are you going to come and visit us here". I never get an answer...Funny how that goes.

Oh, I am so offended. You have to take the award for TD's most insignificant poster.

I was actually just thinking of that expression a couple of hours ago.

A cliche now of course, but meaningful for me.

I think it’s a valid position to take. Especially for one who has made it his raison d’etre to be gruff and minimalist on every issue.

Gruff and minimalist is pretty much the way to be in this cesspit, and it's not far from what you are too.

    Agree.

It was nice to see my UK families, brothers families and my children and now grandchildren late last year. They've all managed the disruptions well. Also to taste Brixton's multiracial buzz.

But my return to Thailand was my highlight. Walking out the gate of the ASQ and hitting the early morning Bangkok traffic. Arriving at the house to put my arms around my wife, surrounded by the baying dogs

    Priceless for so many reasons.

Luckily the authorities in Thailand are straight as arrows and respect people's rights.
