This year I have received 2 Pfizer doses (for free) and today received a Moderna shot (paid for earlier this year) as a booster to keep the antibodies up and prevent a breakthrough infection.

Unlike the large turnout for Pfizer at Samativej, organized by the Foreign Ministry — there was only a small group of 10 people today at my local hospital getting Moderna.

The nurse said that not many people signed up early enough to get the first round of doses that arrived in the country last week — so they are only giving out around 200 doses per day. They'll be giving out a lot more doses early next year, apparently.

Getting high-quality vaccines took some effort and persistence, though thank you to Thai hospitals and the Thai government for the smooth delivery of the vaccines.

Singapore is doing very well regarding getting their population vaccinated: "21 per cent have received their booster shots".

Also, I'm glad to hear that Singapore's MOH announced results of a study saying that 2 Pfizers followed by a Moderna booster give more protection than other combinations.

2 Pfizer doses and Moderna booster give more protection: MTF

As of Sunday, 94 per cent of Singapore's eligible population – aged 12 and above – have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Among the total population, 85 per cent have received two doses, 86 per cent have received at least one dose, and 21 per cent have received their booster shots.

Those who have taken two Pfizer-BioNTech doses and their booster shot by Moderna are more protected against the risk of COVID-19 infection, compared with those who have taken three Pfizer doses.

Both Prof Mak and Ong revealed last week that they had taken the Pfizer vaccine for their first two doses, and a Moderna jab for their third.

"The probability of infection and the probability of severe illness has been further drastically reduced," he said. "(For) seniors, the impact has been stark and very significant."

My partner has now signed up for either a Pfizer or an Astra to be given at the end of the month. Still waiting on her Moderna but that could be months.
