    Thailand Is Best?

I reckon that Thailand is the best place in the world to retire to. The beautiful women, views, beaches, mountains, people, temples, and the food ohh the food. But what it is to me is the lifestyle, relax ok. took me a few years to get used to it, Mai Pen Rai< Aussie> She'll Be Right.
This will make a fascinating Poll on our Thai lifestyle forum to find out what our actual members believe. I want to poll how you really feel, not (covid) or (lockdowns) but how you honestly feel about retiring in the LOS.

Personally I don't think it's the best, for many obvious reasons , but also not crap , so I could not participate in this poll.
Is there a place that is the best? I guess that would be subject to one's needs and wants. Best being a subjective term.
Same would apply to if it's "crap" . My guess is that it is neither.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

Lived in Thailand off and on for over a decade.

Nice place to visit, lovely food, nice people, but no desire to live there again.

Happy to visit, see the Dentist, grab a massage, grab a cold beer and watch the madness of life stroll by ... visit the rellies, no desire to live with/near them.

More opportunities in the West for me, my Family and the Education of our kids.

Again, Self explanatory, I understand the drive of people to do the best for their family, I'm not really talking to you guys, its a question of "retiring" and as a retiree, i have found Thailand a complete joy and any of my complaints all evolve around lack of the language skills

I selected the "show who voted what" to weed out people that don't live here. Maybe if it asked "good" or "no-good" would get less of a softcock reception? Yeh?

Some of you long timers are a bit gutless, I figure that you may have become more reliant on how you feel your friends will react to your response than giving out your own honest opinion? I will give all visitors to this this thread my own honest opinion, Thailand is the best place to retire to, All of the above plus it is safe for foreigners and if you speak a little english you can speak a little Thai, My best example will be through this "lockdown" crap, NOTHING affected me here, my life is the same except for carrying a mask in the car.

I can't speculate if it is the best because I have not retired any other country, anyway.
The major downfall of retirement in Thailand for me is medical insurance, and why I don't think it will work out for me long term. If I was allowed to buy into the Thai medical system it might be more of an option for me, but as it is I realize that the time will come soon that I will be uninsurable, since private insurance here will not cover preexisting conditions, and at a certain age , pretty much everything is a preexisting condition. And many insurances will not cover you after a certain age regardless .
