So now we don't have to eat and exercise so we can die healthy. Now we also have to give up alcohol so we can die lucid.

What about the Greeks and their wine and olive oil?

Average life expectancy in Thailand is 73, compared to 79 in the UK and Greece.

So any Brit who has decided to settle in Thailand has saved themselves, on average, six years of brain degeneration.

    Cheers!

Yeah Cyrille, I say that's a HUGE win. Who in the hell wants to live to be near 80 or older anyway. I hope to check out long before then. Preferably with an outstanding Bourbon or Tequila in hand and not remembering who I am...

I long ago figured the best way to get brain damage was to believe this never ending cavalcade of crap thrown at you re what you should and shouldn't eat, drink, do etc etc.
Take the humble egg for example- is that a Mass killer, or a Superfood? Sure beats me, and damages my cranial neurons trying to work it out. But good with bacon and toast.

^^Eggs are great for you, but I get what you mean. If you believed everything that comes out, you'd go nuts trying to figure it all out.

I do think it was proven that drinking red wine (in moderation ) could be good for your heart. Drinking too much over a long period of time can't be good for your liver, and now for your brain. It is hard to live life without ever drinking imo. I've seen some super healthy eaters that exercised all the time and didn't drink drop dead, and then some unhealthy people that had diabetes live till 85...so.. a lot has to do with your genes ime.

Its all a bunch of nonsense MM. Its far to general. What may impact one, does nothing to the other. if I believed and acted on every one of these silly studies I'd be dead from starvation.

    Beef causes Colon cancer,
    Sushi causes parasites,
Do not eat fish as it has mercury,
    Bacon will plug your arteries,
Butter is bad, Opps wait..Margarine is worse.
    Eggs cause high Cholesterol.
Drinking kills your liver and now apparently causes you to lose memory (Not that age has an affect on it)
Cooking in aluminum pans cause Alzheimer's
Canola oil is OK for frying Yet they say, Fried anything is bad.
    Sugar cause diabetes,
    Salt causes hypertension

    Where does it end???

Nothing better IMHO then a Med Rare Ribeye steak with a baked potato smothered in "Real" salted butter and a bit of pepper, some veggies and a few knocks of a good bourbon during and after. If I die from it, So be it but no way in hell I am going to become some vegan eating nuts and seeds drinking some purified mineral water and taking different supplement vitamins to compensate for the things I should be eating. We are carnivores, act like it for Christ sake...

^Yeah, you have a bit of a point, but I do try to watch what I eat. The older I get the slower my metabolism gets and heavy people run in my family as does diabetes. So, I try to eat Keto which is higher fat, medium protein and low carb. I don't drink near as much as I did in my 20's and 30's and eat less junk overall.

My grandma had diabetes (which killed her), but she ate whatever she wanted as in sweets, and didn't exercise and lived till 84 go figure!! Long life runs in my family, so as I said earlier I think genes has a big part to play in how long we live. Having said that, I could get hit by a car tomorrow... and I know I have nine lives as I should be dead by now... almost having Covid three times for one!
