    Buck's release into the wild.

So Yesterday morning we completed our seven day Quarantine. My thanks to harrybarracuda for recommending Center Point ASQ , aside for the food , which maybe was not so bad but I am a bit of a food snob, it was a great place to be. The room was big, bright and clean with a balcony, kitchen area , and being a corner room, great views. Food Grab, as suggested by Harry solved the food problem. In fact because of Food Grab and The choices of food available in BKK, my wife was sorry to go.
But not me! great food or not I was ready to go. And go we did.
9 am we left the hotel for Suvarnabhumi airport and our flight with Thai Smile to Khon Kaen.
Much to my surprise Suvarnabhumi , or at least the domestic flight side of it was hopping. There was not an empty seat on the plane. Which was a bit disconcerting since I knew that none of them was vaccinated, but since both of us were fully vaccinated, I hope not a problem.
---It was great to be back in Khon Kaen , we have been a little more than two years away, and Sister in law along with Brother in law picked us up from the airport.
The dogs almost peed on himself to see us but they all need a good bath. The house was well maintained , but there are a few thing that need to be taken care of.
The Main A/C unit in the living room, though it was installed a month before we left , made funny noises and did not work. We suspect something died in it, and we have someone coming to look at it today, and also service the other two. Lucky the other two worked fine , and keeping the doors open in the bedroom helped kool the house down 'cause it was hot a hell.
---Refrigerator also purchased new before we left is also not working well , we had unplugged it and left with the doors open but we did not expect to be away that long . it is one of these new electronic jobs (sharp)with different programmable zones, and I am sure we are not programing it right, Regardless of what we tried, and we have the manual, . we could not get the refrigerator part to get cold, and the freezer part is only as cold as a regular refrigerator part should be. Which is good , because we really don't need a freezer right now but but we do need to keep my beer cold.
First thing in he morning we need to go to the Immigration office and report, then go do some shopping.
I know , I know, way to many words and no picture. Sorry but i was so busy and happy to be with my Thai family again i forgot to take any picture, if promise to take some later today
    Anyway. Happy to be home

For those of you who are as challenged with words as I am , big and samal,
a couple of pictures from the ASQ hotell. As i said, Aside from the food, it was a comfortable place to do our quarantine. The washing Machine in the kitchen worked, the reffregerator was big, food Grab, and deliveries from Tops kept if full. It was nice to be able to get out on the balcony, , and the views were great, But I dont understand why they put the A/C unit right in the middle of the balcony . TIT,
    over all not too bad.

Sorry I haven't posted in this thread since I started it, but I have been busier than a one arm paperhanger. Fixing all the things that had been neglected for the past two years, Opening up a bank account on my name so I can deposit 400K bht for my extension to stay based on Marriage , (done) etc.
So Three days ago me and the wife went to the DMV to get an international license, In the rush to get here before the 14 day quarantine , I forgot to get it done in the US.
" Mi me", says the lady at the DMV, but you can get Thai drivers license easy, Thake this document to immigration to verify your visa, then go to the clinic and get a medical certificate, then go to driving school and sit through a I hour video, come back here and we give you Thai drivers license.
    Ok no problem.
Now Remember all I wanted was an international license based on my US license. but I guess getting a Thai license is better in the long run
so off to the immigration to get the document notarized. That ate the rest of the day.
Today we went to the Clinic , to get the medical, You would think they were testing me for the Thai astronaut program but WTF this is Thailand, play along.
Then of to the driving school to sit through a stupid video. (back in the US I had a class A license authorized to drive anything other than a 747 (I exaggerate) . I sit down to give the girl my paperwork so she can signing me in for the class, The girl says " where is your international drivers license"
That's where I lost it. Remember I went to the DMV, to get an international License to begin with.
So back to the DMV. A lot of KAs and grunts from the wife and the DMV person , So many KAs I thought I was in a chicken coop ,Some calls were made, and the issue was resolved and I should be getting my Thai license next week.
So we leave the DMV , by now I am a bit tired and worked up, and we go to a restaurant for Lunch.
I ask the wife , you think I can have a Beer. The waitress who spoke a little English overheard and said "No Beer" I get it rules are rules, I can wait to have a beer when I get home.
While we are eating Lunch a couple of guys come un and sit on the table next to us. Along with their food comes a big bottle of Chang.
    WTF!!!
What's going on here? I ask wife, "I thought no beer allowed"
Oh he must be a big guy says wife.
WTF!! I say you said I was pretty big the other night.
-- Now you can make jump though all sort of hoops to get here, you can get me to quarantine even though I am vaccinated, you can get me to buy insurance for a decease I cant get , but get between me and my beer and that's were I draw the line.
This last thing really stuck in my craw.

Buck an international DL is not valid in the country it was issued. You can use your US or new Thai license in Greece though...

    Thank you
As soon as I am allowed to return to Thailand without having to quarantine, I will go and give it a try. I read today that the EU is allowing travelers from the US and some other countries (did not see the list of countries) to travel without quarantine. I think that if the scheme is successful Thailand will adopt it also.
I don't see Thailand leaving all that tourist money on the table.
