Ignoring people

This is one of the most fucked up of Thai habits. And before the Thaiophiles start with their personal attacks along the lines of "If I was Thai I'd ignore you too" or whatever shite they can dream up, I have a number of friends who agree with this.

Most Thais will ignore any sms that makes them feel even 1% uncomfortable (unless they are stalking someone with SMSs, in which case they'll never stop). Try reminding them to respond to you, and you just dig yourself in deeper in being ignored.

Social fucking retards. The whole social system here is pathetic, and I've seen every side to it.

Hahaha.. maybe she didn't want to talk to you but it's hard for her to tell you the truth then she just THOUGHT "ignore" is the best thing to do.

Some people when we say "fuck off" then they understand and leave us alone but some, even if we have said that many times but it seems they don't understand. So "ignore" must be a good thing to do.

I never reply to text's unless an emergency although I'm not sure what sort of emergency it would take to get someone to press all those little buttons rather than just calling. I've also never had an SMS stalker

I'm VERY GLAD that I'm not one of the rose-tinted spectacle brigade that take their shit and justify it as being an interesting part of the culture. (ie put up with it because they are stuck with it, no way out)

That's how I learnt to deal with it.

Thats a very easy assumption to make, that I'm "bothering" someone, but its not what I'm referring to. Of course, I meet the occasional girl who gives me her number and yet she has a horribly possessive boyfriend, or she was just being "nice" but has no interest in Western men. I learned to spot that type of girl ages ago.
No, what I'm referring to are girls that I've known for a while, who I socialise with regularly, but who seem to suffer from occasional social spasams, or who really don't understand the social etiquite of letting people know "yes or no" if you are free and likely to turn up etc. I spent more than a decade socialising in the UK with many nationalities without such weirdness.
