WTF? I'm pretty sure there's no one with official title 'lawmaker', So what do you reckon is up with that?

Not sure what you're having a problem understanding. Members of congress have always been considered lawmakers.
It just seems I hadn't noticed this term used so much if at all by the media until the last year or so.
So why aren't they just refered to as what they are, members of Congress.
