    No, it's not a French letter. After Yogi's explicit picture I'm trying to clean this thread up a bit.

    It's not from a road sign but is from a very well known name.

    It's part of a vowel.

    It is the middle cross part of the 'E'.



    I must have seen several hundred Leo bottles in my time but had never before noticed that the lettering is in two tone white and grey.

    I stopped drinking beer about 2 years ago, haven't looked at a Leo in all that while, so it came down to lateral thinking, what might be in the Mendip household on a weekend evening? I had to Google for images, I had never noticed the white and silver combination before.
