Around 20 years ago when I was in my low thirties I lived in Kuantan for a few years. For those that don’t know, the east side of peninsular Malaysia is pretty Muslim… Kuantan wasn’t as bad as further north but the night life was pretty grim.

Once a month or so a few of us would have a ‘golfing’ weekend in Phuket… get the Friday red eye out of Kuantan, via KL, and you could tee off lunchtime in Thailand. But of course (pun intended!) it wasn’t about the golf.

After spending weeks in Malaysia it was like moving to La la land arriving in Phuket. The mornings were spent golfing, the 19^th hole would last until early evening… a quick shower and then it was out to hit the bars. I don’t care who you are… a couple of days of no sleep and monumental alcohol consumption and you need some help. A 500mg Viagra in your pocket was standard, and a little nibble 20 minutes before arriving back to your hotel room did wonders.

I’ve never ‘needed’ anything, but in my hey day when I was still alive and had a social life it sure as hell helped for some good nights. If you drink too much and get a headache, take an Aspirin, no-one says a word… but if you drink too much and accept a little help from a nibble from a little blue pill... people will judge.

The old brewers droop can hit anyone. It's only a worry if it happens when you are in otherwise good health physically and mentally and not on the piss or drugs.
