Sorry, but the Irish have to stop 'dancing' like they've got a broomstick up their collective arses . . . lovely people, especially one with whom I backpacked through Greece and Turkey in the 80s . . . from Cork . . . Aaahhhh yes . . .

Fark it, let them dance like nobody is watching!!!

    One of the theories ...
Apparently the Church did not want boys and girls to hold hands. To stop this they made them hold their arms by their side. Another idea is that, at a time of puritanical Catholicism, the Church in effect ironed the fun out of Irish dancing to make it reflect Christian ideals

There'll be no purchasing of a stupid green hat and t shirt, drinking of flat beer which turns your shit black or eating of some gad awful potato pie in some loud faux Paddy pub with midgets paid to dress as leprechauns for me this year.
    Thank fuck.

1 week late for my paddywhacker's knees-up... You need to start the thread a week before next year Willy for fair stocking-up warning.

^ Every time I see you post I worry a bit... does it not get a bit stale doing whatever you want whenever you want... surrounded by toys and eating whatever food you decide on and drinking whatever takes your fancy? Not to mention an endless stream of easy going visitors?

My offer of a life swap is still on... the wife's a bit temperamental but I have a lovely daughter, six OK street dogs and 40 odd chickens you can get 10 eggs a day from.

    Give it some thought, please...

I went to Kinsale once. It was very nice, but full of Americans who thought they were Irish because their great great great grandmothers shagged a seppo back in the day.

In fairness, this probably qualified them for the Irish national football team.

Fuck off Bendy, its not his airfix models, XJ6 with dead hooker in the trunk, 200 metre driveway, collection of single malts and syrup, blokes cookery skills or little red book of aging Asian hookers you'd swap your life, soul and family for ...its his collection of size 8 stilettoes and the freedom to prance around pulling yourself off, at will and great height, into the nearest washing basket, without repercussions, you sick fuck.

Have you ever tried on a pair of heels?

I am pure Irish descended from an unbroken line of antecedents stretching back 350 years who settled in and around Ulster but mainly in Donegal and Down.

I have never ever felt wholly at ease with the English as a society and the Brexit madness merely confirmed my reservations were well founded.

Nevertheless, I utterly loathe the cod Oirish bollox that is St. Patrick's Day and every time I hear that fucking hippity-jippety-skippity music my soul dies just a little bit more. Danny Boy makes me retch.

I'm of Irish descent originally, family from Newry. My father was born in England and brought up Catholic. He hated the Catholic church so much that he wouldn't have me and my siblings baptised Catholic and never spoke of his family roots.
I really don't understand all this celebration over ones roots. I was born English but couldn't give 2 fcuks about St Georges Day. I really have no allegiance to any country. All a load of shit IMO.
