^ I was offered Sinovac through my daughter's school a few weeks ago. I declined but a mate (who's son also goes to the school) took them up on the offer. He has now had his second Sinovac jab.

His reasoning was that the vaccination should at least keep him out of hospital if he catches Covid... he works from home and doesn't travel at all now (due to Covid) so generally lives a very secluded lifestyle. He can carry on working unimpeded.

I turned it down because I need a vaccine certified by Europe... all of my work is in Europe these days and I couldn't see the point of getting Sinovac when I'd probably need a 'European accepted' vaccine at some point to easy my travel for work. My life in Korat is generally locked down anyway, so also I could see no advantage of having a potentially low efficacy vaccine.

In many ways all I want is a vaccine passport to allow me freedom of travel for work, but also I'm 54, carry a couple of extra pounds and suffer from bouts of high blood pressure... potentially putting me in a high risk group if I'm being perfectly honest with myself.

Everyone's circumstances are different... and also this is all new. Sometimes I think maybe I should have got jabbed up with Sinovac... other times I'm glad I didn't.

As for normality creeping back Bogon... I'm starting to think that whatever you do that is an awfully long way off.

Wife and I had our 1st shot of Moderna July 14th. We landed at SFO at 9pm. Got 1st shot 10am next morning. No waiting, just walked in, filled out a bit of info. In and out in 15 minutes of which 10 was sitting after the shot to monitor if any immediate reactions. Wife and I suffered no ill effects after albeit Wife did appear to have a low grade fever for a few hours. Our 2nd shot is Aug 12th.

What's insane here in the states is the surplus of the vaccine and the people who refuse to get inoculated. Cases on the rise here daily. Almost all are people not vaccinated. I guess in the big picture this will all get sorted after a few more waves and they die off.

and no sympathy for those in that particular situation.

90 or 95% of serious COVID cases are now among the unvaccinated. Stubborn morons.

Tend to agree, but I'm sure the scouts had a saying about being prepared.

...and I had Sinopharm, not Sinovac if that makes any difference?

Also needs a booster, AZ or Pfizer recommended.

South Korean study shows, that people who had a 1.shot of Astra Zeneca, can boost it with Phizer with good results.

6 times higher antibody count, than with 2 Astra shots.

So...go Phizer if you can get it

Not long now and anyone who got vaccinated early, will need a booster shot, or the new improved and adapted annual version.

The anti Vaxers will have a field day. Can’t wait until Darwin gets hold of them. (With due respect to those who have medical reasons for not getting one)

As you know, long retarded myself so only seeking the jab to avoid a tango uniform situation. Reading the adventures of folks here trying to navigate the convoluted ever changing rules of working outside Thailand prompted my comment.

Waiting to get my jab is a piece of cake in comparison.

I had no side effects to either Pfizer jab. Wife had a number from the one-jab J&J, nothing serious but some chills, fever, local pain, headache, swollen gland, etc - all fading now in day four.

Well finally the village came through the other day regarding vaccinations.
The health volunteers had taken all our details a couple of months ago and hen revisited to confirm everything.
This time they brought appointments for vaccinations.
Our part of the village where there are approximately 50 plus adults were offered a grand total of 3 appointments.
As the vaccine offered was Sinovac nobody took up one of the places.

Fortunately I was able to have my first dose of Astra Zeneca through my employer a couple of weeks ago.

My wife and most others would much rather have Moderna.
We have called around all the local hospitals and none are taking any more registrations.
"Call back in October" is the most common response

Same is happening here. A friend and 200 others were waiting for three hours for the innoculation team to arrive, When they did, and announced the day's vaccine was Sinovac, all but about 30 walked out.

Second shot today - Pfizer-BioNTech. No adverse reactions and the nurse that jabbed us said she'd see us in six months for the booster shot.

I suffered mild muscular bruising to my shoulder for 24 hours from my Pfizer shot #1

Miss Lusty Luzon used to be in ambulance-chasing medical malpractice legal work so I got her to check it out but she reckons it wont stand up in court

I have heard the #2 is worse with Pfizer. AstraZeneca has a worse #1 from what I have gathered. But this is just anecdotal.

    ^ l heard that too.
I went to bed early with a slight fever after my second moderna shot 10 days ago. The wife was okay with her second pfizer shot on Wednesday. So that was a reverse of the first shots.

Just got 1st AZ jab 2 hrs ago. Took awhile to get appointment but very efficient professional staff at Provincial hospital.

Poor things must be exhausted. Couple 100 a day, everyday.

Very limited AZ but plenty Sino. Wife got Sino last Friday.

Seems to be case by case as neither the wife or I had any side effects at all.
