Harry I am not hearing this at all. In fact the big news last week was female celebrity Araya "Chompu" Hargate giving it a big thumbs up. Now I dont want it but.......

I have been offered the Astra jab the first part of June by my employer.

Meanwhile in NZ leaked papers have shown that the government can't fulfil their guarantee of having the whole population vaccinated by year's end . . . a much-vaunted and heralded promise by the government . . .

Their response . . . 'we never stated that we would have everyone vaccinated by the end of the year"

One year of preparation simply wasn't enough . . . and it has nothing to do with giving the allotment to others, it has to do with ministerial incompetence.
Chatting with our GP, she mentioned that GPs aren't among the list to give the jab . . . but there's a Marae (Māori Meeting House) a bit further on, they have it. But only for Māori and Pasifika.

Ah well . . . so, had the flu vaccine shot today instead

I feel lucky. I had my two jabs of Pfizer this past March. Many of my colleagues got one, but can't get the second shot due to supply issues.

Things are actually ramping up in Thailand at last.

I did find out that the upper echelon of my work place are all already vaccinated (two jabs), which means they started getting at least three months ago. That was all kept VERY quiet.

I am registered through my work place, and have additionally finally reached out to someone who may be able to pull a string or two to get me bumped up. Going to be interesting to see if that pays dividends.

If I was you, I would get on a plane and fly home to the states. The day you land you could be vaccinated with your choice of the Pfizer, Moderna or J&J. The clinics are taking walk ins just about everywhere with no supply shortages anymore.

You forgot the two weeks in quarantine on return. If I dont do the Astra I can get a private injection by September, and my kids wont be able to come till after October or when and if the quarantine is lifted. So wont be taking that advice.

It wasn't giving advice, I was telling you what I would do if I was in your shoes. At your age I would be taking the quickest path to the vaccine regardless of a quarantine. But to each their own.

Simple fact is, it is a dog and pony show to get BACK into Thailand. No way is it worth it if you live here.

I would also have concerns going from somewhere with relatively low transmission (Thailand) to somewhere with high transmission (USA).

It is not high here anymore. Over 40% of the country are fully vaccinated and over 50% have had their first shot. The vaccines are plentiful, and the infection rates are plummeting. The governer of my state plans to fully reopen bars and restaurants by June 30 and fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks. We are at the finish line here.

Oh right - so you actually did physically 'reach out'.

That wasn't just cringeworthy seppo management speak.

Fair enough - a gentle reminder, in fact.

and talking of e mails, text messages and reaching out, here we see mission hospital reaching out to foreigners already registered and with an appointment for the jab.

    from todays bangkok post.

    Mission of misery

I am a 74-year-old British expat and I have been based in Thailand for over 26 years, financially supporting several Thai citizens.

When I ceased employment with a Thai registered company in 2013, I elected to continue paying myself for Thai Social Security Medical Cover.

When the Mor Prom app was announced I tried to register for Covid-19 vaccination, but like many I found this failed (despite registering using my pink Thai identification card).

On May 7 I was visiting Mission Hospital Social Security Department for my regular doctor's appointment. In the lobby of the hospital there was a table set up registering people for Covid vaccinations.

I enquired if I could register. After consulting someone more senior, the receptionist indicated that as a Social Security patient of my age I was entitled to register.

I was given a written appointment to return to Mission Hospital of June 18. I was happy. There was hope.

Today I received a text message from Mission Hospital that states:

"Dear Sir Madam; According to announcement from government I need to inform you that we need to cancel all expats in Thailand even you have Thai Social Security for Vaccination Covid-19. Due to the Vaccine is not enough for now, so we will give to Thai citizen first. However our government will announce again in the end of May how expats in Thailand can register to get the vaccine. We apologize for inconvenience./ Mission Hospital"

I have no problem with the service I receive from Mission Hospital. I have a big problem with the government.

Have you worked out how much I care yet?

Is your door always open with value added?

I never reach out to anybody. I always contact them. Works for me.

Anyway, I'm hoping to get a vaccine next month but I won't be losing any sleep if I don't. Two or three more months will be fine. End of the year would be OK too.

Some of that might be political. Remember who’s to blame if things fall apart?

My Welsh mate had his first shot of Sinovac this afternoon in Korat.

I reckon it was a bad batch they wanted to get rid of.

I had the second AZ two weeks ago so I'm fully vaccinated.

Joined a new gym yesterday and celebrated by going on a pub crawl.

It actually feels like things are getting back to normality now.

Here in Laos, I previously mentioned that I had my first AZ jab a few weeks ago. Now the AZ supply has (temporarily) run out for new jabs, but - sensibly - the authorities held back enough AZ vaccine for all second jabs in about 1 month. So I should be fine!

The first jab gave me a cold chill during the night. I've booked time off work for the day after my second jab, since I'll probably feel like shite - a good sign that my immune system is working....

You being on a drunk bender? That is nothing new. You have been fucking hammered for the last year and a half.

Getting cut loose from lockdown is just going to encourage you to go back to dogging in the car parks with your lads, jackoff and buriumboy. I know you keep those two knob jockeys on standby.

I've enjoyed the best year regarding health.

No vaccine, no antibiotics just lots of exercise and eating and sleeping right.

Losing 10 kg of fat also helps.

If they offer to stab me for free injecting fluids full of viruses claiming it will make me feel better I may need more information before I accept their needles.

I really suspect I have suffered from Covid 18 months ago and now carry the antibodies and am immune already.

    *sigh*
nobody will inject you with a virus. That isn't how these vaccines work.

Maybe they could make just the one exception?
