Tatoos is a turn of to me. . I guess it is a matter of positive or negative associations and for me, it reminds me the USDA stamp they but on a slab of beef in the US. I don't know how I developed that negative mental image, but I have.
Other find it desirable and or sexy and I also understand that.
I am of the opinion of not doing anything permanent markings on my body as I am not always going to be that age, things that I find interesting or desirable at that age I might not at a later age. And things that are socially accepted then might not be later.

My first exposure to tattoos was on the forearms of fathers of my friends post WW2 and the Korean war - they seemed part and parcel of their military service. Next was in the head (bathroom) on the aircraft carrier I served on where I got to see the faded sagging tattoos of the lifers - a definite turn-off from ever getting one myself.
I am probably dating myself, but the only tattoo I saw on a partner was a small butterfly on a girlfriend's shoulder circa 1978 - but then again the light was not always so good and my eyesight isn't so good either. None on my Thai wife but there are a few on my Thai step-son, not sure about my step-daughter.
