Maybe the thread title should change to “When did you complete the first vaccine cycle, and is it still effective”

My mom had her booster dose today (AZ). It was free, c/o the local govt. I'm glad she's boosted. Her first 2 doses were Sinovac and accdg to a study from SG (link in the covid thread), there's minimal production of antibodies after 5 or 6 months.

We will see. A few million Indonesian people have had Shitovac, and by default, one of the world's biggest epidemiological studies is now underway.

Update on my mom the morning after her AZ booster shot: she feels bad. Headache, heavy feeling, arm aching, etc. I told her that it's due to the vaccine & to rest today. She didn't feel any side effects after her first 2 Sinovac doses. It's been 5.5 months after her 2nd dose, so the booster came just in time. She got Sinovac before because it was the only brand available during that time. Our health workers, frontliners & most senior citizens got jabbed with Sinovac during the early months. Now, the frontliners & seniors are having their boosters (which is good).

Got my Moderna booster yesterday. Sore arm, but nothing crazy.

Used it for my excuse not to do push-ups with the kids this morning, still planked.

    Sleepy though

Fuck ... I just my first Covid test ... a RAT.

I have a cough which won't disappear, I've lost my voice.

    Doctor insisting on a test.

But can't buy a RAT for love nor money and fuck waiting in a 6 hour queue for a PCR test with is on a 5/6 day turn-around.

Asked nicely, through my Partner who works as an AIN in a Nursing Home and her Boss kindly agreed.

Just before she put the swab in she said that "This will feel like I'm trying to poke your eye-balls out'

Fuck me ... she wasn't joking!

I just grabbed a handful from 7/11. They had them everywhere two weeks ago. Have they sold out?

Where I am ... almost impossible for the public to buy.

The Nursing home have to test their Staff regularly, so they had a pre-existing supply.

Five of their patients tested positive yesterday, the place is in lockdown.

Some of their Staff tested positive also.

Our under 12 yo Boys got their first jab yesterday

My other half is working on her days off, sometimes double shifts.

Nice for pay packet, hell on your work/life balance.

Heck, today, I even had to cook lunch for me and the Boys!

Had a call from my daughter in Santa Barbara. Her boyfriend even though double vaxxed and boosted with Pfizer has come down with Covid. Minimal symptoms which is good. So she is now waiting on testing positive. May get lucky but they live in a really nice but smaller one bedroom there, 70 sq meters. Feel for her. They are both going to quarantine now.

^ Yep, triple jabs (which I've had) seems modest protection, at best, against the Omicron variant.

    Wish them both good luck.

With the huge increase driven my Omicron in the UK they are having real difficulty in keeping up with demand for Lateral Flow, seems its the case worldwide. The case numbers under omicron are double, sometime treble the previous highs so i think authorities have been caught out.

As noted, ATKs are plentiful and easily available in Thailand. As noted by Harry they are on sale on 7/11, my pharmacist has them. Absolutely no shortage or limit on how many you buy. I bulk buy for work without any problems. My c**ting work decided it was up to each unit to provide (required) ATK kits for the staff (they need weekly if they go in, and some have to). Lucky I have some slushy budget on hand, or it would likely be coming out of my pocket.

My son was telling me today that a government minister apparently effed up, and said that the ATK kits were 35 baht (they are double that in 7/11). Government now under pressure to make them available at that price.

@ 35 baht ... ship me a million and I'll triple that price.

On the Tab, of course ... I'm good for it

Do they have any underlying conditions or are OZ vaccinating all under 12s too?

How many healthy kids do you know who have Long covid?

I don't think vaccinations for under 12s are even an option here in the UK, unless there are underlying conditions.

The school are offering flu jabs, or nasal things for kids here...which I declined. Flu jabs were always for the elderly.

I've had a flu jab mind
2 jabs and a booster now.

Hopefully this weaker variant dies out soon.

Good luck with your throat, get some honey and lemon down ya.

Just to note that one of my staff tested positive. Now in government "hotel". Vaccinated four times, 2x sinopharm, 2 x moderna. Mildly symptomatic.

Half the staff sent home for mandatory quarantine.

    Quite done with this shite.
