Moderna
Pfizer-BioNTech
Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)
Astra-Zeneca
Russian Sputnik - umm - 'vaccine'
Chinese Sinovac - umm - 'vaccine'
Any 'new' vaccines not mentioned above
They have just changed the rules in Germany, one week too late for me. People who got AstraZeneca as first jab, get BiontecPfizer or Moderna as second jab now. That combination has the best protection against variant D, the Indian version. Two AstraZeneca is good too, but not as good. My wife will get the new combination, second jab later this month.
"don't attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence"
Of course the problem is all those dirty farangs ask the minister.
So what is the fix for this? MM has had AZ then Moderna. If she wanted to arrive at Phuket would she need a third jab, being either AZ or Moderna, to have twoof the same?
Will doctors give you a third jab? Sometimes , in the case of vaccinations other than Covid, people can react badly if they are effectively vaccinated already.
Current status is that she wouldn't get a CoE until as you point out, she has an additional AZ or Moderna. As an aside, Moderna doses are being advertised from Bangkok Hospital, Phuket, with applications open from tomorrow morning. Anticipated actual vaccination to take place October/December. I've had one AZ, with the second booked for September. This allows me freedom of movement should I wish to travel out of Phuket within Thailand and return. I will probably get the Moderna ones also purely for medical reasons rather than convenience.
There was a piece, I think in the Bangkok Post, claiming that 9 million people have already prepaid for their private Moderna jabs and that the last hospital to advertise was fully booked within five minutes.
I'm not sure that is accurate because the government are claiming they aren't signing the Moderna contract until they see the money from the hospitals, which hasn't happened yet. Who knows what the truth might be?

Following on from this, come 9 a.m. yesterday I thought I'd have a go at registering. No joy, system seemed to be down, lots of irate people on social media etc. Anyway, around 10.30 clicked on Register again, and up popped a fillable form page. Duly done, clicked 'Register' once more and.......nothing. No acknowledgement or anything, just put me back to a previous screen.
So, more than a litte surprised around 3.30 p.m. yesterday when a get both an SMS and email, asking me to choose one or two doses, and of course to pay. Duly did, and immediately got a receipt email, which included two 2 page 'coupons' (one for each dose). No indication of when these are going to happen of course, but ulitimately with my two doses of AZ, I'm going to be well vacc'd. The howls of anguish of those who didn't manage to get registered are still being heard along the tumbleweed strewn deserted streets of Phuket.
Quite disappointed that the Thai program[s] still remain somewhat stagnant [almost a confused manner] and unnecessarily bureaucratic - for Thais and foreign residents, equally.
Even though the system has been up and running for a couple months now and the usual/expected classes have long been vaccinated.....of course they have, the roll out for everyday masses remain stalled, delayed and steeped in back-n-forth, wishy-washy politics.
Many are becoming quite anxious and frustrated regarding these affairs.
Complete balls-up in Thailand with their vaccinations. If shit-poor Laos can manage to treat me exactly the same as Lao citizens and give me 2 free AZ jabs, why can't 'modern and wealthy' Thailand get their act together - for ALL and for FREE?!
Well at least I have an appointment now - Tuesday 13th Astra Zeneca.
Having had my details taken 5 times by two organisations I am now getting closer
Instead of a jab, is it possible to get a bottle of whatever vaccine rammed up the back passage by a mallet wielding lady of low repute and even lower stature?
Just asking for a mate who likes that sort of thing.
Funny, the chinkies think people like their vaccines, and they laughably call them "timely rain".
"Inadequate Piss" would be a better monicker.
Indonesia, Thailand consider booster shotsIndonesia and Thailand are considering offering a booster shot to their medical workers immunised with Sinovac's Covid-19 vaccine, a move likely to reduce public trust in the Chinese product that has been their main inoculation tool.
Some countries including Turkey and the United Arab Emirates have already started giving a booster shot to those inoculated with Chinese vaccines amid concerns that they may not be as effective against new and more transmissible coronavirus variants.
<snip>
Singapore said this week people who received the Sinovac shots are excluded from its count of total vaccinations due to a lack of efficacy data for the vaccine, especially against the contagious Delta variant.
"We don't really have a medical or scientific basis or have the data now to establish how effective Sinovac is in terms of infection and severe illnesses on Delta," health minister Ong Ye Kung said.
China reiterated that its vaccines are safe and effective. "Chinese vaccines have earned a good reputation in the international community with their safety and efficacy widely recognised," foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Monday in response to a question about whether other countries have expressed concerns about Chinese vaccines.
"To date, over 100 countries have approved Chinese vaccines... The first batch of vaccines to arrive in many developing nations are from China. They refer to the Chinese doses as "timely rain".
I dont know if I would trust the storage temperature requirement in Thailand at around -80°C. The upside is the take up will probably see it used quickly when it hits normal refrigerator storage temperatures.
Meanwhile the death toll and infection rate are climbing in Indonesia with the delta variant and the over reliance on a fairly ineffective Chinese vaccine.
That's what I found with Pfizer - delayed after effects.
With AZ I was lethargic the same day, with Pfizer the day after ... even though I had it at 8am.
In my case, the first dose of AZ that I have had was administered by a Government hospital nurse (not sure which one, there are about six scattered around Phuket) in a shopping centre. Second dose scheduled for same location. The Moderna I've booked are from a private hospital (Bangkok Hospitals), and there was the option of using one of their three locations here. I just chose the nearest. I did think about just having the one dose as a booster, but wtf, just give me both. I don't intend declaring the AZ doses, and doubt that their respective computer systems 'speak' to each other.
