The good news is that two weeks after your first dose your protection is already over 92%.
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2036242Polack et al. (Dec. 31) report a vaccine efficacy of 94.8% against Covid-19 after two doses of the messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine BNT162b2 (Pfizer–BioNTech). The authors also report a vaccine efficacy of 52.4% from after the first dose to before the second dose, but in their calculation, they included data that were collected during the first 2 weeks after the first dose, when immunity would have still been mounting. We used documents submitted to the Food and Drug Administration to derive the vaccine efficacy beginning from 2 weeks after the first dose to before the second dose. Even before the second dose, BNT162b2 was highly efficacious, with a vaccine efficacy of 92.6%, a finding similar to the first-dose efficacy of 92.1% reported for the mRNA-1273 vaccine (Moderna)
The health department called and canceled my second dose appointment today. The vaccine delivery has been delayed by the inclement weather up north.
It is now being reported at the other forum that the government is considering eliminating or modifying the 14 day quarantine .
Since they announce something new every day, I would take it with a grain of salt, but at the very least it is encouraging news.
It's certainly nothing to get excited about. They are "mulling" quarantine at home - which for a tourist is a pointless tweak - or having "mobile quarantine" supervised by a government chaperone (which is one of those really dumb shit ideas that some bigwig has come out with and none of his underlings have got the balls to say "Oh shut up, you fucking moron").
I'll be getting the Sputnik vaccine later this week or early next week. Mongolia has allowed the private market to import the vaccine, not just the state. This seems to have got things moving pretty quickly.
Had my first dose of Sputnik and so far the worst side effect was tearing off the band-aid. Not even a sore arm today. I'll get the second done in April.
Where I work the chain of command asked several weeks ago who was willing to get the shot and I responded in the affirmative. Really thought it would have been done for us by now. But really haven’t heard Jack Shit.
Not sure how bsnubby has gotten a jab already here in Wa state. For some reason I thought he was several years younger than me and healthy as a horse. But I’m not eligible yet per the WA state website. How’d ya pull that off bsnubbs?
Lookin now to get registered with the VA to expedite the process since they’re already getting it.
I got an appointment online through King County for the mass vaccination site in Kent. I only had to flub one question to get the appointment.
It is all on the honor system and once you get down to the vac site all they care about is sticking vaccines in arms only thing you need is a state ID of some kind.
A very mild elevated temperature on the evening of day one, aside from a slightly sore upper arm, I feel normal today in day 2. Some coworkers are still laid flat by it though.
Up here in north Laos, the Sinovac vaccine that was donated by China has been given to health workers. The next group are the over-60s, and this apparently includes expats (free vaccination).
Being a scientist of sorts, I have no concerns about receiving this jab - it is based on an inactive virus, similar to many other kinds of vaccine, such as that for rabies. I'm reasonably fit and healthy, so also have no big concerns about getting a bad dose of Covid-19. Rather, my reason for having this jab is to obtain some form of confirmation of such, so that it's easier for me to visit Bangkok for an almighty shopping spree, once things start to open up again...
