A language you'd like to learn

I'm finally going to take on what is my favourite language, Italian . . . not the most useful, of course, but to my mind certainly the most beautiful and enigmatic in its intensity. (Yes, gesticulation included)

I've excluded English as we all can - to a certain degree - use English to communicate (no slight on any posters here).

I am lucky to be able to speak a few languages to varying degrees but there are those I'd love to learn . . . in the case of Arabic to learn again as we left the place (Lebanon) when I was fluent and seven years of age - zilch left.

    Over to you . . .

(Geez, tomcat, how fast were you in responding!!!!!)

First French, always thought I should know both official language.
Second, Japanese. Japanese women are arguably the world's most beautiful so knowing the language may be advantage.
My third choice would be American.

I know there are radical Democrats hereabouts.

Just a reminder that any interference in the poll will not be tolerated.

Absolutely . . . I have a continuous consulting arrangement with a Quebecois company, they all speak both French and English - it'd be silly not to take advantage of the system.

I learned English and German at school and I can get by with my Thai which is ok but fluent when I'm drunk.

Never been outside of a German airport, and lets's face it... Don't talk about the war...

I've always thought Spanish had potential to be useful. French also, but I hate France, I hate the arrogant French cnuts that it houses, I hate french Canadians, I hate snails and I've managed to avoid Africa so far in my working live.

    So I voted Spanish.

Mandarin. I can stumble through simple situations but never properly learned. I have met a lot of interesting Chinese women and would be happy to meet more.

I would love to be able to speak Thai (Isaan) so I could communicate with the extended family without relying on the Missus.
Same as doing anything for myself where she has to help interpret pisses me off having to depend on her help.
Unfortunately I will never learn as I cannot differentiate the tones which is important.
So looks like I will have to continue to be nice to her and not tell her to fuk off as much as I might like to.

The most practical, and obvious, manner in which to learn a language is an age old one.

HappyNZ, any reason you want to learn every language known to man apart form Tagalog?
