    I'll take it.

Hell of a roll-out cockup here in the Great White North.(and no Panama, that's not a racist comment.)

I may be offered the jab sometime in the late summer.

The only thing that might discourage me may be the size of that needle.

It was a normal size needle and remarkably quick, and in my case no significant discomfort to speak of.

And I'm not good at pain.

Today I got my first jab. Was surprised by the size of the needle. It looked big to me but wasn’t particularly painful. It was the Moderna vaccine.

So far nothing but a sore left upper arm.

Good to heat that you both got it,
I am not over 65 yet so not eligible for it here in Florida yet , but I do have a heart condition that I am being treated for, and I hope to qualify for the "those with medical conditions" as soon as the over 65 and first responders crowd is vaccinated.
Hopefully with adults finally running the government, it will be soon.
I want to get the heck out of here.

I don’t think it has been approved here: COVID-19 Vaccines | FDA

But, my daughter did suggest I book a hotel room in the area (so she could monitor me) just in case I had any side effects after the injection.

    edit......

One more thing (US citizens). When scheduling your vaccination go for the early hours. If you choose the end of the day and the hospital staff/pharmacist know there are a limited number of people waiting in line they will not open a new vial just for a very few people and will reschedule you.: COVID-19 Vaccines | CDC

I don't know if your daughter plans on being fully equipped, but you are supposed to wait at the vaccine site for 15 minutes to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction to what's in the vaccine.

    Which reminds me.

Washington state hospital apologizes after inviting donors to sign up for Covid-19

Washington state hospital apologizes after inviting donors to sign up for Covid-19 vaccine

A hospital in Bellevue, Washington, has apologized for emailing about 100 benefactors an invitation to sign up for the Covid-19 vaccination."We're pleased to share that we have 500 new open appointments in the Overlake COVID-19 vaccine clinic," said an email from an Overlake Medical Center, which also provided a special access code to register.
The email was obtained by The Seattle Times.

Overlake sent the email to about 4,000 members of its community "including volunteers, retired nurses and physicians, all employees and about 100 donors from our Foundation database," according to a statement by the hospital.

As of January 22, Washington is in Phase 1B tier 1 of the Covid-19 vaccine distribution, according to the state's health department website. This means all people over age 65 and those over 50 in multigenerational households are eligible to be vaccinated.

Gov. Jay Inslee expressed concern over the emails during a press conference Tuesday.

"If, in fact, they were giving preference to some VIP list, that's not the way to do it," he said. "That is not acceptable for us. We need to give everybody a fair shot at the vaccine."
Hospital officials said in the statement they understand an error was made. "We recognize we made a mistake by including a subset of our donors and by not adopting a broader outreach strategy to fill these appointments, and we apologize," the statement said.

The hospital's statement noted that people who received the invitations could only sign up if they were legally eligible to get the vaccine under current Washington state policy.
"Our intent and commitment has always been to administer every vaccine made available to us safely, appropriately, and efficiently," the hospital said.

The hospital's statement also said it had administered 11,000 vaccines to date and "will soon administer vaccines for over 40,000 community members who have upcoming appointments scheduled through our online system."

I got my first vaccine shot Tuesday the Pfizer vaccine. Didn't feel anything, so asked if they really injected vaccine.

The Johnson/Johnson Vaccine is near approval in the US. This vaccine is one shot vaccine and requires no special storage requirements.

First things first. No I have never ever donated any money to this particular hospital (where I will be getting the vaccine).

I do not meet any of the criteria below (for Florida residents - Know Before You Go | Florida Department of Health COVID-19 Outbreak). I’m a healthy adult (under 65) with no preexisting conditions. I’m not even an essential worker. No one gives me a check.

I have been told that some hospitals are offering their employees relatives vaccinations. That’s how I was able to get an appointment for a shot (actually two).

I would have been fine waiting as I have stated before. I thought I would be the last of last people to receive a vaccine.

My daughter thought otherwise. I’m not going to argue with one of two people who will be caring for me as I grow older. I’d rather she take charge and know now I will not object to the decisions she sees necessary for my wellbeing.

By the way, we’re not sure about the long-term effects of Covid yet and I am sure my daughter has thought this out. I believe she wouldn’t want to worry about a loved one with limited lung capacity in the future if she can help keep it from happening now.

    Edit……

Recently Florida had to put the brakes on tourists coming into the state and getting a vaccine.

This is an expat forum. I put it to you that if you don't take the jab, your travelling days are probably over- or should be. Mad not to. I don't see many countries letting you in without the jab.

Vaccination certificates are going to be about as easy to acquire as phoney teaching certificates.

I don't care to break the law but were the vaccination passport to become an essential for travel (or for anything else for that matter) I would not be hesitant in acquiring a few via the web and not feel bad about doing so.

So twenty percent won't take the jab.

That might be enough to seriously challenge the capacity for herd immunity.

Enemies of the state. I can see it all now.

I will accept the vaccine when it is available to me but still doubt its effectiveness against this virus.

The fact that a valid vaccine for the common cold is still not available worries me.

No for me. I could take the high ground and be noble and say let the needy have my share but the fact is I have some concerns for everyone.

Somethings still remain in my memory...like Thalidomide babies. Thalidomide Babies And The Company That Was Responsible For Them
Plenty of info on the internet.

Not the same you say...are you sure??? Big pharma is all about making money...lots of it! And with governments indemnifying them from legal actions if it all goes wrong...that worries me a lot!

I'd prefer if stricken by the virus to have Hydroxychloroquine cocktail. Hydroxychloroquine is a 60 year old technology with few side affects.

Hydroxychloroquine Cocktail Has Been 100% Successful

Hydroxychloroquine Cocktail Has Been 100% Successful For a Doctor on the Frontlines of the War Against COVID-19 and Here’s Why

And as for Fizer...I wouldn't trust that company with manufacture of vitamin "C" tablets little own an allegedly life saving vaccine. Sure I maybe a right leaning capitalistic dude but even I have limits on what I consider as 'In the public interest'. Poisoning half the world population is just not on!

Amazing he thought he'd get away with that. Two weeks ago when I arrived my documents must have been cross-checked against at least three existing lists.

this is just logic - relatives have a higher chance of coming into contact with someone working in the medical profession who may see people with the virus daily
