Will you take the Covid vaccine?

Will you take the Covid vaccine?

    Will your partner take it?

I will and it should be a prerequisite that anyone travelling on a plane should have a special stamp stating they've had it

It depends which vaccine and when it's available.

That said, it's not an option for me till about the middle of next year.

Hopefully getting mine next month David.

The UK is overwhelmed with this virus and its mutations at the moment.

I don't want to go to any more funerals for a while.

I think I probably had Covid-19 last year, before everybody else jumped on the bandwagon. The fat lazy oaf who gave it to me said he'd never been so ill in his life, but I just had a bit of a cough for a couple of weeks. If I test positive for the antibodies, I don't see why I need to take any vaccine. Also, I do like toffees.

I worked in close proximity to someone who had a confirmed case back in March.
I showed no symptoms and don't even know if a had it.
Nevertheless I'll still take the vaccine.

Why does the poll say choice(s) when it's not multiple choice?

I would take the vaccine, and I like toffees. I'm abstaining.

As a matter of interest, if you already have antibodies from an earlier infection, is there any risk of heightened side-effects from a vaccination?

My son in UK, now 30-something, was very unwell in February this year. He remembers having an altered sense of taste and being as unwell as he has ever been, although not bad enough to go to the hospital. At that time, Covid wasn't much discussed in UK and he was never tested for antibodies so he still doesn't know for sure.

...this just in from Samitivej Hospital concerning availability of vaccines at their locations:

"According to the Thailand Department of Disease Control, vaccination may start around mid-next year but will prioritize medical staff, young children, elderly people, and high risk groups. The vaccine may be available to the general public to purchase...towards the end of the year 2021."

After three months or so of having Covid there's a good chance that your blood will no longer contain the antibodies and it is thought you are vulnerable to catching it again. One of the reasons this virus is so successful.

So the vaccination will create a longer lasting immunity than prior infection?
(Probably I could look this stuff up somewhere, but since vaccination for me seems to be far off I haven't searched the details yet.)

Yes, I'll take it, especially if it means more freedom of movement/ travel. I haven't left my province in 9 months due to travel restrictions & checkpoints here in PI.

The vaccine (Astra Zeneca, I think) is expected to be administered to health workers by 2nd qtr next year.

I'll eventually take it if it shows up here sometime. As an old guy, I should be fairly high on the list, but would very much prefer to give my spot in line to my younger wife who is out and about far more than I. Or, for that matter, to my kids, who still have long lives to live.

My 84 year-old mum in the UK has had her first Pfizer jab and has the second booked for January 6th. It's been a big relief for her and the rest of the family knowing that she should be a lot safer after isolating for a couple more weeks to mid January.

I'd take a vaccine like a shot if it meant I could get back to normal with travel and work rotations.

Yeah, I want to travel again and see my family, they certainly aren't getting any younger and from my Skype conversations it is pretty clear their mental health is in the shitter at the moment. I also want to see kids go back to school in person when it is safe to do so, I also hate teaching online.
