I do, yes, and if you disagree the sensible and decent thing to do is to explain why, offering your own thoughts.
Clearly that last bit is alien to you, but hopefully not suicidal.
The great filter. Have we passed it or is it ahead?
A bladdy big filter must be human evolution's trick of us only being able to live within a tiny strip of Earth's atmosphere.
Without terraforming another place in space to have the exact same gravity, atmosphere, radiation, temperature etc, it's not gonna be much fun hanging out there for any period of time.
...all of that can be achieved without terraforming...move folks underground into protected environments on another rocky planet, into transparent bubble shields on the surface, into giant rotating space cities or other such arrangements (as illustrated in The Three Body Problem)...the imagination (and probably the technology) is there; all that's needed is impetus...and maybe a little birth control...
Majestically enthroned amid the vulgar herd
I have a very different opinion on terraforming. Actually one point I disagree with Elon Musk.
Mars is the place where we need to learn how to build and operate closed circuit ecosystems. That is what will enable us to move outward from Mars. Survive and thrive in the asteroid belt, the Kuiper belt, the Oort cloud. Interesting point is, what gravity do we need? Obviously microgravity as in space is not suitable for us. Is Mars gravity, is Moon gravity? We will need to find out. Atmosphere, temperature are quite easy to maintain.
"don't attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence"
We know we can live in 1g, Earth gravity. We do not know if it is necessary to live. We know that 0g is a problem, we can not reproduce under that condition, producing healthy offspring. I expect Mars gravity at 0.38g is sufficient, but we do not know that. We need to find out.
Reproducing 1g in space is possible but requires a lot more structural strength than 0.38g.
