Will we be in lockdown before Xmas?

Just a quick Yes/No will do.

At the time of typing, there have been over 500 cases of Covid in Samut Sakhon, a few (3) in the Paknam area of Samut Prakan, and now another 2 in Nakhon Pathom.

Like many of you, we have a trip planned for the New Year, and am wondering how you guys feel about the chances of not making it.

    --EDIT--

The numbers I am getting are random Twitter feeds from the likes of Barrow and whatnot, so the sources are not official.

Probably not a national lockdown. Not this week.
Something progressive like stopping inter-provincial travel and closing entertainment venues seems increasingly likely.

I think that as happened earlier this year, any lockdowns will be managed on a province and district basis.

As I understand it, this outbreak has occured at a fish market, which is a major distribution point sending fish all over Thailand so the transmission potential via drivers and helpers is significant.

A Yes/No answer isn't the best, but as this is Teakdoor, it limits the in-fighting and keeps the topic on track.

Think I'm gonna answer my own question here...

Wattanya Wittaya Acadamy and Bangkok Christian College have announced they are shutting until after the new year. I would expect a few more schools to announce closures in the coming hours.

A woman has just tested positive in Ayutthaya after returning from Chiang Mai.

Another 146 test positive in Samut Sakhon today, bringing the total to 694.

    this.

and if the numbers spike in bangkok, they might consider stopping domestic flights.....but there will probably be significant push back to this.

We are in a pseudo lockdown here and I don't think it will lift fully until the vaccine arrives.

We aren't going to bother returning until we have been vaccinated or are allowed to travel to our home in Thailand without quarantine in Bangkok.

The situation is too volatile for all but essential travel.

Yup, I agree . . . stringent measures have to be taken - luckily, in this case, Thais/Asians are more easily 'controlled' than Europeans or Americans

Let's face it, everyone's betting the farm on the vaccine.

On the bright side, when things are relatively normal I have a lot of holiday coming and a lot of beer vouchers to spend.

I should stop jinxing shit like his, tomorrow we return to a strict lockdown. I least I was able to prepare better this time thanks to a two day warning.

I suppose I could also re-wallpaper my landlords gaudy taste in interior design.

^ Flocked with ingrained sparkles that give you static shocks, it's horrendous. I also have a faux Versace sofa wish is a real site to behold.

Borders are mostly closed, but no lock-down here in Laos. Up here in Luang Prabang, most foreigners buggered off months ago, just leaving the Gitane-smoking, unshaven Frenchies at the street cafes...er... and myself.
