Happy Fried Turkey day, Ray
Happy Fried Turkey day, Ray
To be honest I had always thought Thanksgiving was a version of Harvest Festival, celebrated in the UK around the beginning of October.
I guess not...
In Thailand (obviously not this year) I like to be there for the harvest as it is close to Thanksgiving and my birthday making it a triple celebration.
The September equinox full, or harvest moon in late September in UK. More recently moved by the Anglican Church, in order to get young people involved around the end of school summer holidays, celebrating the return to education, by bastardizing the agricultural seasons gathering in of the harvest.
Sounds like you have made similar personal adaptations to fit your own purposes.
We used to have harvest festival activities at school.
Yeah we'd bring in a can of soup that's been in the cupboard for the last 5 years. No idea who they gave it to.
A tad earlier than I remembered then. I haven't celebrated it in the UK since childhood so hardly surprising.
In Thailand we harvest November and celebrate the same day we bag the rice. Different day, same reason.
Forgot, we picked parsnips on the first frost, which used to be in October. That's probably why I recall the month.
The point is, did you invite any injuns to join you?
Theres no thanksgiving celebration here in oz but inviting a ute load of abbos over for a barbies becoming a thing
. . . I was waiting for the very Anglo 'or we'd be speaking Spanish/German/Japanese' addition
You told us you were Greek, why are you so intersted in Poles - go to Illinois and enjoy - good luck finding any to grease. (well, having said that . . . )
True, most would. Every year this board has the same 'discussion' about Australia Day . . . or Invasion Day as the Aboriginals see it.

let's just move past that first part about him 'thinking' with a brief chuckle.
native/indigenous americans make up about 2% of the US population...and about 20% of that 2% live in alaska. that's a bit of a logistical hurdle to overcome for anyone who takes even a brief moment to consider cujo's absurd proposal.
and more importantly, why the fuck would native americans want to meet with strangers to celebrate a day that perversely whitewashes the genocide of their ancestors, the destruction of their culture and the theft of their land?
but yeah, cujo, you racist fuck....go ahead and call them injuns, because you're an ignorant prick.
"cultural appropriation" is the most ridiculous thing I've heard of. Talk about your PC snowflakes taking things to the extreme.
Would it be ok to invite some Negroes over? Askin for a friend
