    Man caves and male space

Do you have one ? care to post it ?

James Howard Kunstler did a podcast on the history of man caves. Its really good.

A “man cave” discovered in a government complex made national news earlier this month. Eminent new urbanist planner Andrés Duany was prompted to speak out in defense of the man cave and “male space” in general, which he sees as a disappearing habitat in modern America. James Howard Kunstler and host Duncan Crary listen to a recording of Duany’s “The Dilemma of Male Space” and further explore the concept of male space. Not only does Kunstler believe that male space is disappearing in suburbia, but he thinks adult space in general is endangered.

    ^^ A wonderful view.

Please take this the right way... but I think if you put your naked Barbie on the windowsill amongst your aircraft carriers just for the pic, then that is probably OK.

But... if she's always there I would seriously consider some professional help.

    Out of concern...

    AO,
I had them made by the local craftsman when the house was built. We used the Teak from the original house we tore down. The glass is beveled. There are 8 panels (4 on each on side) pulling towards the middle. This way you can close them up in basically any configuration you want.

Here in Thailand, no man cave. Computer/exercise room. No picture needed, we all know what a computer and treadmill look like.

I dug deep through some old digital photos. Circa 2005 - my old man cave - the basement. Before the days of flat screen TV's. @ 15 years ago. A bit of work to set up, had to haul the pellet stove and Sony TV 42" big screen. @ 300#'s each. Down the stairs. Narrow.

No, I don't. Man caves don't suit my current situation.

"Travel light and be ready to bug out" fortunately or unfortunately has been my life since ages ago.

    It's alright.

She has been there since Easter Mendip!

Boat launcher lady's 8 year old daughter brought Barbie to my house for me to fix last Easter since her head comes off.

We had fun hunting for hidden chocolate mini Easter eggs in the garden but I never got round to fixing Barbie.

    Her head still comes off!

They go into that in the podcast actually. Your male space is being compromised.

    Looper, I take your point.

My daughter also has Barbies and their heads do come off easy... but they don't end up sitting naked on my windowsill in provocative poses!

Or maybe I've just been away too long...?
