Quotes from The Bed of Procrustes

"The fact that people in countries with cold weather tend to be harder working, richer, less relaxed, less amicable, less tolerant of idleness, more (over) organized and more harried than those in hotter climates should make us wonder whether wealth is mere indemnification, and motivation is just overcompensation for not having a real life."

"Work destroys your soul by stealthily invading your brain during the hours not officially spent working; be selective about professions."

"The difference between slaves in Roman and Ottoman days and today’s employees is that slaves did not need to flatter their boss."

Modernity’s double punishment is to make us both age prematurely and live longer

"You exist if and only if you are free to do things without a visible objective, with no justification and, above all, outside the dictatorship of someone else’s narrative."

"What fools call wasting time , is most often the best investment"

(the 1st quote gets to why I cannot stand normies)

Pontificating on sloth and advocating idleness certainly suits your ‘me first’ lifestyle choices. This advocacy is fine for stupid people, but what about more intelligent readers? People who have a functioning brain, and an innate desire to improve their lives and the quality of others existence?
What does your dumb friend say about progress and invention?

He obviously believes the world consists of dim, gullible and feckless wasters like yourself. Which one of these idle slackers focused long enough to invent the automobile, or air conditioning?

I suppose that what it boils down to, is that you are quite content to do nothing useful with your life, and let others produce playthings for you. Which idle good for nothing pleb made the motorcycle or the jet ski that you lust after? How did you manage to pay for it?

Humanity is made up of producers and consumers. They all need to be useful for them both to survive. That’s how real life works. Your hero makes the stunning observation that people in cold climates work harder. That is not a revelation to real people. It is a fact of human development necessitated by local conditions.

Why do you think so many people retire to tropical climates? What a thoughtless dummy you are.

If you want a head start on how human life works, try reading something useful, like Maslow’s theory of needs. It’s so simple, even you might be able to understand it. It has been around a bit longer than your charlatan hero

You say you know people who have CHOSEN not to take a day off in 5 years.
So that's their choice to make, what's it got to do with you, they obviously enjoy what they do.
So what if your dad's a workaholic. Again, his choice.

Most of us work the hours we do because we have to. And we have to find a balance.

But tell me those corporate ladder fucks or small business workaholics don't have dull miserable lives. There is a lot of fucks out there working themselves into the ground. Be happy you aren't one of them.

These quotes don't really strike a cord with TD because ppl here seem to be ppl of leisure

No it's not that simple. Workaholics never reciprocate. They believe that they are more virtuous. They want the pity for working hard even though they choose to do it and claim to like it. They will always look down at the guy at the beach

A balance that usually is hard to find, either you have lots of work (and thereby money) but no time or you have all the time in the world but no money.

Accidental suicide. I deleted my pics without realizing that it triggers a ban.

In my working life I have enjoyed my career choices. I have for the UK government, UK and US corporations as a manager, and run my own business. All jobs were enjoyable, successful and well remunerated. I sometimes enjoyed it so much that I found it difficult to believe I was getting paid to do it.

If people do need to be told the obvious, in the format of a self help book, North America is in a truly parlous state.

If you choose to stay in a job you hate, you’re probably beyond redemption anyway.

Nonsense, where do you get such claptrap and why do you accept it as truth just because some self proclaimed guru said.
You'd be better of with some practical positive thinking types of book.
