    Yeah - uh, really?

So seen a few items about a new project in America. A group of families got together and bought up a swathe of land, with the objective of creating "a premier recreational, educational, and cultural destination for Black families across the African diaspora."

This is what they say about themselves:

We are a black-owned, woman-owned, family-owned, veteran-managed, limited liability company organized in Georgia for the social and economic benefit of our members.

Our LLC seeks to support black-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned businesses by providing contracts to well-qualified vendors to do business with our company.

Our LLC pledges to create a thriving safe haven for black families and our allies that brings value and gives back to the community.

Our LLC hopes to be an innovative model for self-sufficiency, environmental sustainability, and cooperative economics among BIPOC communities across the African Diaspora globally.

The Freedom Georgia Initiative – Building It for Ourselves!

CNN is reporting this as a highly positive step forward, and basically they aim to build a new black majority town/city.

I have also seen that they are thinking (elsewhere) of creating black student only dormatories.

So - the way forward is what? "equitable segregation"? No idea, but I am fairly sure if the word "black" in the above was replaced by "white" there would be an outcry.

Just think MLK would be spinning in his grave.

    What, no LGBT.

    I'm outraged!

Where is the consideration for the gay, lesbian whales?

    Are only 'black' Whales accepted?

Will there be an all black board?

    No white boards allowed?

Their Big Black Campout event was scheduled for Labor Day weekend, which I believe was last weekend.

No pictures on their website showing the enthusiatic attendees all having a wonderful time. Nothing at all.

They do have a gofundme page with USD46,919 raised so far. All to a good cause.

Had not heard of this before. It is in infamous Toomsboro, where my great great uncle was mayor back when cotton was king.

Toomsboro is already majority black. If they can revive that tired little village, then good on them.

    Me too

Found this when searching for answers:
    Cotton Hill - Wikipedia

I was 14, just a little older than Bobby. But I knew Uncle Sam needed me, so I lied and signed up. We had beat the Nazzys in Italy, and they shipped me to the Pacific theater. A Tojo torpedo sent our troop ship to the bottom. I could only save three of my buddies: Fatty, Stinky, and Brooklyn. They were kind of like you fellas [to Bill, Dale, and Boomhauer], only one of them was from Brooklyn. Out of the sun came a Tojo Zero and put fitty bullets in my back. The blood attracted sharks. I had to give 'em Fatty. Then things took a turn for the worse. I made it to an island, but it was full of Tojos! They were spitting on the U.S. flag! So I rushed 'em, but it was a trap. They opened fire and blew my shins off. Last thing I remember, I beat 'em all to death with a big piece of Fatty. I woke up in a field hospital, and they were sewing my feet to my knees."

Would fit in the LSD thread

Hippies. Except black. Heading off to the country to get away from the Man.
On 100 resource-rich acres. That'll resource a few thousand families no worries.

I don't think you have to explain cotton and slaves but where does Filipino come into the picture?

Add me to the group that doesn't understand. As lom says - blacks/slaves and cotton- ok, got it.

Filipinos? Maybe Filipino women servicing GIs?

    Nope, no idea.

It's TD. Making sense is secondary consideration.
