    One Memorable Person You've Met...

I met a Tina Turner trannie in Pattaya whose regular lip-synched productions energized the performance bar where she worked...I wish I had taken pics: towering blond Tina wig, dark rice-farmer skin, voluptuous screaming red lips, sequined and fringed outfits and nose-bleed heels, pumping her thighs across the stage: I was beside myself with enthusiasm and tipped generously enough to be remembered with a cheek peck on subsequent visits...sometimes, even louche has its moments...
Majestically enthroned amid the vulgar herd

    One?

    Sadly . . .

    Ronald Reagan

(though I'd prefer to mention Gough Whitlam but only Aussies would know him)

You're posting some cool/novel threads recently - kudos

Bob Hope. Watched a football game with him at my parents' home. Really witty guy.

Met him many times. He was a nice guy, but I never was into his politics. Plus he is the signature on my BA degree.

TC this Turning Tanner tranny, was the bar she/he worked in on the corner of Soi Post Office and 2nd Road by chance? I can remember drunkenly stopping on the street and watching such an entertainer in that area once, great show!

    Edit: Malibu bar?

Got lost one night in Chicago in 1981 and called into a diner in the hope they could direct me to my hotel.
Two staff there. A giant black man and a tiny little fairy.
The small one recognised my accent and actually knew where Melbourne was.

Such a change from the amiable questions about my english-speaking ability, whether or not Australia had xmas, and what number bus went from the airport to the Barrier Reef.

Non-famous people then it would be George. George was a paranoid schizophrenic who I stumbled across at my aunt's motel when I was a kid, maybe about 7 years old, playing hide 'n seek. He told me not to tell anyone I'd seen him (I did) and ran off. He came back much later and for some reason tried to kill one of the guests with a shovel he had found... So that sticks in mind.

Famous, well I made a vegetarian burger for Courtney Love and she raved about it, said it was the best she had ever had, which chuffed me considering it was the first and only I ever made.

I shared an airport business lounge with Sir Joh Be, B, Be alkie, Be Alcoholic, Peterson. In fact, he asked me if he minded if he used that phone... and it was only after that I recognized him.

There's also Jason, the curly haired nutter who used to trawl around CM. His parents sent him money because they felt he was safer there than back home in Brighton, although he still used to get regularly slapped by someone or other. His brother was even more psychotic.

I've met some pretty famous people, particularly who work in the music industry, but the one who stands out for me is Dirty Dog.

If not for him this forum would not exist.
