It can yes. The point is , you cannot legislate away accidents and death. We hear about how safe air travel is because we have perfect data.

How many miles of successful accident free motorcycle travel happens around the world in a year ? We don't know. But it's obviously a hell of a lot.

But since we don't know the data , we can't make a comparison. But oh man air travel is so safe. The only safety feature in an aircraft is the stats. No parachute , no helmet , nothing. "I'll make it" is the only safety feature. But when you use that logic in a motorcycle , you are called an idiot.

Because helmets are cheap enough , we convince ourselves that its crazy not to wear one. But any real safety device on an aircraft is too expensive , so we just gamble.

I didn't see anything that I would expect road rage but I did see things that I would consider increased chances of an accident...

Personally, driving or riding, I assume I am invisible and others can't see me unless I get eye contact and they stop.
I was 23 at the time. But I have a class 1 and class 6 license. I can drive an ambulance if I want. You can't see it , but I am very much in a defensive mode. I am looking everywhere and anticipating moves on the road. I am not a retard that looks straight ahead

But yes. You are right in a way. Because you are used to Thai roads. Nothing I did was bad according to Thai rules.

In Europe they drive fast. Even in New Zealand , they drive fast. Truly , it's only North America that is pussy foot white knuckler road rage world headquarters.

The way they drive in east Asia , is part of why I fell in love with the place

In Thailand the horn is used tactically. In Europe also. Some Mercedes cars have 2 horns. One for the country and one for in town.

In N.America, it is rude to use the horn at all. And its only used for big fuck you's. Big long loud fuck you's. Hooooooooooooooonk. Yes cocksucker. We get it. You are mad. Did you have to hold the horn on for a half a day ?

Yeah left hand lane is usually occupied with trucks.... don't know how you think it is the fastest lane.

Who generally know how to drive, travel at consistent speeds, indicate their intentions, and leave spaces between each other. The car drivers are very varied in their driving abilities which affects the preditability of actions.

I too, when approaching Bangkok on the highway from the south, normally utilise the two left-hand lanes, usually less crowded and easier to swap between.

I think he is referring to the far left lane, aka the emergency stopping shoulder.

Truck drivers acquire skills. by driving every day. Pretty simple. if this wasn't true and truck drivers were as useless as the average , there'd be far more accidents involving trucks

Amazing how delusional a lot of posters here are, either that or I commute daily on a motorway in an alternate universe.

My apologies I knew you weren't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree but I am sorry to hear your are blind as well.

Some highways have 4 legal driving lanes, as in my example.

    One is illustrated here:

Left lane is left lane. Hard shoulder is hard shoulder.
