True that. Not many new Thai related building, travel, cooking, hotel/resturant reviews et al anymore. Entering the Teak Doors these days could be anywhere in the world.

No-one would post their house build here let alone old photos of it, All they would get is rubbish dumped on them by people that don't even live here.

Yeah it's not that there aren't many expats reading TD, it's the toxic atmosphere that prevents me from posting more about my life on here.

    You twat.

Stolen valor has nothing to do with my living or not living in Thailand & posting on Teakdoor.

Do I live in Thailand ? No.
Do I have a connection to Thailand ?
Saw my wife lying belly-down on a mat so I gave her cute little bum a playful rub with my foot.
Discovered that I definitely have a connection to Thailand.

8 years in Thailand and2 in Myanmar.Looks like it will be 4 in Mongolia, I am hoping that in 2022 I can make a more permanent move back to Thailand, that got delayed a bit but seeing as I have a job, roof over my head and the ability to save it is hardly the end of the world. I don't really use the term expat anymore, I'm more of a migrant with nomadic tendencies. Home is wherever I lay my head, has been for 12 years and I still enjoy it.

The term used to be for those working outside their own country for a limited period of time . . . now it just means living in another country.

Been back here in the US of A now for the longest stretch in past two decades ... 2 years and 8 months.

So also feel in my heart like I’m an expat. Just more time in Japan than Thailand by far.

Birth and first 12 years in Saudi Arabia, followed by 24 in the USA, and now 32 here in Thailand. So yes I feel like an expat. Must be in my genes as my dad retired from Aramco after 25 years and why we moved back to the states.

Do you like to highlight your stupidity? You must. He has stated he lives in Seattle and in no way considers himself an expat. You sure your name is not Jethro Tull?

Nomadic tendencies should be a category. We need a venn diagram.

Even for those not resident in Thailand, Thailand never really goes away.
I come home and the house smells like a fish market, somebody’s yabbering away in Thai on youtube, there might be some of the gang of local Thai sheilas visiting and eating enough food for three villages (all talking loudly but nobody listening), wife might be asleep on the sofa or preparing food on the floor, I get quizzed about what I’ve been eating and what I’d like for dinner etc etc etc.

I know. But just the people he rolls with and the way he posts, he comes off as an expat.
