A bag of chips and scraps ensured a willing bed warmer when I was a lad. Throw in a pickled onion and she would clean the kitchen.

I am down south on the islands checking out what Covid has done to tourism, and its beyond belief. But on Kata one restaurant is packing in all the Thai's and farungs left. Daily specials to get you in the door each night. This was last nights. Pork chop, fries, small salad and garlic bread. Came with pepper sauce. Too cheap really 69B. s

Fries are done and were nice and crispy, frozen yes but deep fried well.

Absolutely, It's great to see when they make an effort. I probably hand over more at the end of the day in these circumstances than when they hike the price to compensate.

When Covid kicked in and our bar was closed down we converted from a bar to restaurant status so we could reopen when the restaurants were allowed to do so. We kept all our staff on and even hired more.

So now we have all the usual spicy thai offerings along with the pub grub. I'm not really making any money off the food itself by the time we pay cost and salaries but we're now selling a lot more drinks. A lot more couples are coming too, with the temporary separation period - Guys to the bar for drinks, girls to the table for chili and gossip.

We have registered with Foodpanda and Grab. They take around 30% and 26% respectively. There's no way to turn profit so we hiked the price and offer a walk-in or call-direct discount to compensate.

    Everyone's happy.

Seriously, you can really support your fav restaurants if you find them on these platforms then you are able to call them direct from their fb page or whatever.
