Actually I've just moved out from a house where these events occurred. But it's totally weird and I've got my own ideas...
I lived in an old wooden house in north Laos. I had the upper storey and the floor was made of hardwood planks. At some stage, a bathroom was constructed on the side of the main room, such that one stepped down into the bathroom. The step itself was open to the underfloor of the main room, but I never bothered shining a torch to see what was under the floor.
I used to leave my bars of soap on the bathroom tiled floor, next to the shower. Oh, I lived alone and no-one else entered the property. One morning, I noticed that my bar of soap had disappeared. I put it down to a 'senior' moment and replaced it with a new bar of soap.
But the same thing happened again a few months later. The soap disappeared. I thought about what might be the reason. If it were a mouse or rat, then they would surely just claw and bite the soap bar - they wouldn't cart it off piecemeal....
3 months later the soap disappeared again......
2 days ago, when I finally moved to a new property, I went to collect my soap that I'd used the previous day. It had gone!!!
Now I sleep like a mouse, and would hear an animal if it were in the bathroom. There are no holes large enough for a cat (do cats steal soap??). The only large hole leads to the dark interior under the floor of my main room - a gap about 4 inches in height.
So I ask the learned members of TD - WTF is stealing my soap? It's rather scary!
Oh - it wasn't Candi having a shower - she was tucked up in bed with me
