You need it explained why these troglodytes don’t have a positive image of teachers?

No, just trying to get into their thought process. I mean there probably isn't one but worth a try.

Not all TEFLers are created equal, terribly sad.

    Great thread....

I'm guessing that the lack of formal qualifications and education is something they need to hold dear because, as TC says, separates them from the vulgar herd.

Remember, people need to feel superior to those around them to maintain their egos. Us TEFLERS are nothing more than drunk fuckwits that get by on our 30K salaries.

You make a good point Topper but I think it might be down to one of the few occupations you can do in Thailand as a foreigner. Sure, there's lots of high paying engineering or marketing jobs going but they're few and far between.

It's the same reason they hate those that work online. No need for us to wait until retirement to enjoy Thailand.

You are right Armstrong, getting paid to work in different countries is great, its not all about money.

They might claim that they would never live and work in Thailand but if that was true why are they on Teak Door.

This could explain the hate towards a certain Chiang Mai poster who, due to his own fault I guess, let it be known in the engineering area where he works.

This proves challenging for some posters who would also like to live and work in Thailand. Thus, hate.

But yeah, there's an element of envy because they didn't make it to Thailand until after at least one failed marriage, to someone who basically avoided being in the same room as them for a decade.

Then there's the way that going to work for anything other than money is utterly bemusing for them.

It's simply envy. As a mere scumbag, lowlife TEFLER you've been able to go on vacations, outfit your house and raise a beautiful young lady not to mention the 95K you were able to spend on that electric chopper.

    Can't even spell TERfleur.

A couple of well made points pointed out here, which is a bit of a bastard to the deaf dumb and blonde.

TEFLer's ... difficult to dislike a group of people I've never met.

Probably most are fine, decent people ... but they never make the News headlines.

The one percenters whose professional/social actions don't represent the calling they trained for.

Are there any stats for TEFLer's for whom English is their second language* teaching in Thailand?

...and the idea that because you're a TEFLer that every post you make on TD has to be grammatically perfect is absoloute bollocks.
