Which province has the weirdest expats?

Bangkok has the numbers and the lure of bars so has to be near the top of the table. Chonburi, as Bangkok's sleazier younger sister, is an obvious choice.

Korat has made a surprise appearance thanks to the TD locals with their Googling skills and love of feral dogs.

I'm sure someone will mention Chiang Mai but I don't see it.

Samut Prakan, of course, is filled with only quality expats.
I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

I reckon they'd be spread out fairly evenly.

Nah, they're just the cheap assed tefling ones who are willing to catch the bus, or ride an unregistered electric bomb to karaoke bars

No karaoke bars in Samut Prakan. We are men of decency and religion.

We get a bike into Bangkok for that type of stuff.

Fortunately I'm just north of the border.

My vote goes to Chonburi an obvious choice?

Although there are lots of weird people up north who constantly whinge about smoke.

I didn't know you lived close to moi

Hell, after my wife kicked me out I thought Samut Prakan was still Bangkok.

One fun fact about this province. BTS is free of charge, so cheap Charlies like myself can enjoy daily trips to Robinsons mall for happy meal and Mister Donuts

why do so many expats in pattaya and isaan marry prostitutes?

presumably they'd never do this in their home countries.

Rayong Province's expat population has changed a lot over the years. From the original surge of expat engineers, O&G workers, IS teachers, etc., it's now mostly comprised of the socks 'n sandals retiree brigade. The local Tesco's has turned into a "People of Walmart" type outlet.

I guess one would ask, Define weirdest?. Like tat'd up, Geritol downing, Bermuda short and Chang Tank top wearing coffin dodgers or old guys shuffling around in slippers at the mall with a family in tow or old men sitting on benches drooling on themselves watching girls walk by or some looney walking along talking to himself begging for money and hasn't showered in a spell?

When I was working in BKK I used to see some odd ducks walking along. Always wondered what they were thinking. Later and not of my doing, I had to shift my location to Chonburi and depending on where you go, you see some weird ass foreigners. In fact when colleagues would come over on business trips it was always good for a night of WTF's taking them down to beach front area. Kind of like going to the Zoo in many ways.

That said however I have met some really nice business professionals that are just living life with wife and kids.

    Dude, are you serious ?

    look at your home cuntry.

first date, you pay for dinner.
    second date, pay again.
the rest of your life you are paying for it.

Australian women are all about the money, i have had them take immediate interest as soon as they learn what i do for a living.
You can see the $$$$ in their eyes.
and a lot of them have had more pricks than a dart board anyway.

All women are hard wired to find a mate who can provide for their litter.

Thai's are just more honest about it.

Plus no self respecting HiSo Chinese Thai would be interested in some baggy short wearing beer swilling yob from EEngerlund.

so people get what they can.

The better question is who's the whackiest expat you met.

I sense a comment aimed in my direction here...

I agree there are some oddballs in Korat... it can be hard to find someone to have a decent conversation with at times.

Is it not a case of nature versus nurture? A place like Korat can have a strange effect on your mental state, especially for a long term inmate... a perfectly normal person could be turned a bit weird, I would imagine.

For instance, when I lived in Singapore I didn't spend my time driving round town taking selfies with a dog, but it doesn't seem to matter in Korat. I seem to lose all self awareness here... maybe because I feel so alienated from the locals. I should be headed down to Bangkok next week for a few days and I'll be normal again then.

Met a guy once from Scotland. He described himself as an environmentalist or environmental ideas person or something. He wanted to grow moss on the sides of buildings to keep the sun off. Even though we told him that moss grows on the already shaded side of trees. He kept insisting his idea had merit.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

Im.guessing if you hang out in pattaya or isaan then theres a high probability of meeting isaan birds in both places. Marrying thems not mandatory though.

I am sure there are weird people in every district including mine, but if one was to try and find the weirdest ,one needs to spend a couple of days in Pattaya , all one has to do is take a stroll on walking street.
No disrespect intended toward those who live in the area , Plenty of normal people live there, but one must agree that the area attracts more than it's fair share of loonies.

    Define weird

I've met a lot of odd people in CM and BKK. You see a lot of what look to be 'sexpats' walking around scruffy, sandals and socks, beer guts with a Thai looking around 15 years old hanging off them. Then you see a lot of 'hippie expats' asking for money with rasta hair, baggy clothes and tattoos all over them.

I've worked with a lot of very odd expats however.
