Family flying back to base - but what are the rules?

My wife and children want to go to Thailand next month. I want my wife and children to go to Thailand next month. It will give the girls a chance to revisist their roots and reaquaint themseleves with the culture. It will give my wife the opportunity to see if Por has drunk himself into complete insanity. And, of course, it will give me the chance to flex my right bicep and really get to grips with some contemporary pornography. But the question begs: what are the rules? Will they be forced into a fortnight of quarantine, or allowed to stroll freely into the chaos of Bangkok, or is this still a rolling rule and nobody yet knows?

    Kindest regards

    Slap

    Yes.

    More details here:

Don’t know how it works for flights to Thailand now. I’ve a Thai friend still stuck in France since March. She can’t get a flight to Chiang Mai until August!

I thought there was a 14 day quarantine, that they're only letting 250 Thais in a day at borders and they need medical certificates.

That is probably utter bullshit now, with the different phases I'm not in touch with.

Do you reckon she will mention to Thai immigration that she has already had Covid and cause mayhem?

At the moment unless a passenger has a special dispensation order from a government agency then they will need to quarantine.

There are plenty of flights running still between Europe and Thaiand and there has been all the way through the "crisis'.

They're still rather far and few between.
Which is the case in most circumstances.

I would expect Asian points to open up considerably by Sept/Oct....[??]

That isn't borne out by the story in some places with far higher average temperatures.

Just thinking, does your wife just have a Thai passport and would your kids normally leave the UK on a GB passport?
Won't she have a problem if there are only repatriation flights available as there are at this time until June 30th..

I think they'd be better off staying in the UK this year. If a second wave does come you could be pulling the end off it for Months

The flight prices will be extortionate too I'd imagine when these International flights start back up with social distancing

They already have tickets for July 15, booked along time ago. Kids could potentially fly out on Thai passports, but I suppose the next few weeks will be pivotal. What's the current social distancing/curfew situation in Thailand - something right has happened over there, be it by luck or design.

You can get a BA flight to Bangkok from Heathrow next friday for £605 if you have the correct paperwork.

^ I've done it before. "Excuse me Mr Immigtraiom Man, I've been drunk for the past five years and completely forgot where I was and how I got here and now I'd like to leave please. Here's some cash, now stamp me the fuck out of here."
