Why is that even a question? Of course, he does. All of these tech workers do. Herding them into work is a challenge and when they get there you just hope they showed up with their pants on.

Writing code is a "special" skill.

what are the odds musk is not CEO of tesla on jan 1, 2021?

i'd wager it's higher than 50% because his recent tweets are a clear violation of his SEC agreement from 2018.

Fairly high chance, what's also the bet he will try to remain in an advisory or board chair type of role?

i'd have to check, but IIRC part of the deal in 2018 was that he was removed from the board for a few years.

The SEC does not see the tweets as violating the agreement. Besides the role of the SEC is protecting the shareholders. Removing him would devastate the share value.

He is still on the board, no longer chairman of the board. He still is CEO.

We know what he is going to do. Build a large settlement on Mars. In the meantime make the money to make this happen. That's what Starlink and Tesla are for.

remains to be seen....especially in jan 2021.

    actually....

The U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has a three-part mission:

    Protect investors
Maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets
    Facilitate capital formation

probably....but it could be argued that it would help to maintain "fair, orderly and efficient markets"

true. but take a look at the last clause...

Musk reached a settlement with the agency that required him to step down as the chairman of Tesla's board of directors for three years, pay a $20 million fine, and receive approval for all future written communications that could be relevant to Tesla shareholders.
there is no way in hell he received approval to tweet that the share price of TSLA is "too high".

Elon Musk and the SEC are in a fierce battle over one of Musk's tweets — here's what you need to know about their dispute, Business Insider - Business Insider Singapore

All I read that this tweet is not the type he needs approval for. He is on record previously and repeatedly making remarks that the share value is too high.

sorry to burst your bubble, but tweets that have market impacts by disclosing either material insider information or unfounded claims are direct SEC violations

they are going to come hard on him, they don't care about his role for the Mars mission, they are government lawyers, not high-tech toys geeks

SEC lawyers are probably drafting indictments as we speak now. He is fucked. Might get a 5 year ban from official positions in any public company. He might be able to save his job as a Project Director for Mars at SpaceX

he is a big legal liability for sure, I am surprised he still have functions at TELSA, the SEC case is going to help to remove him once and for all

and since he has a "medical" condition, it's another justification to remove him from the CEO position

no more car toys for him, but he still has to play with his rocket toys

Even if the SEC continues its vendetta against Elon Musk. The Tesla share holders stand firmly behind him.

vendetta? are you real? are you in love with him?

I know a few personal cases where people have been sent to the gallows by the SEC for much less

he got away far too easily, I don't think he will get a free pass this time, some SEC directors are probably pushing hard to make a public statement about the SEC enforcement division

Telsa shareholders are not going to save him, and the Board of Directors are the ones that will vote to protect the shareholders for their best interests. I am sure a few directors on the board want his head. Can't remember exactly where I read it, but there were some reported tension with the BoD because he was making announcements that didn't materialize.

Anyway, the SEC will decide his fate

I think it's safe to say that Elton lawyers have preemptively started negotiating for the best outcome with SEC lawyers, hence taking the CEO job away and paying a big big fine

Elon Musk is trolling the short sellers and the SEC.

He is selling short shorts. But they were sold out in minutes.

Elon Musk denies that Jeffrey Epstein toured SpaceX facilities

Elon Musk on Saturday denied that the late convicted sex offender and multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein was given a tour of a SpaceX facility.

A photo showed Musk with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s alleged co-conspirator who was arrested on Thursday, raising questions about his relationship to Musk.

In a statement to Vanity Fair last year, Musk distanced himself from Epstein, who he said was “obviously a creep.”
